Alongside that exciting new trailer from the Nintendo Direct, the game’s Amiibo functionality and a brand-new Link Amiibo were revealed!
According to Nintendo, scanning specific Zelda series amiibo will net you some weapons and materials, as well as special fabric for Link’s paraglider. Presuming that these work the same as before, you’ll have an Amiibo rune that you activate to scan the amiibo. Then, items and a chest will rain from the sky. There’s no word on if the previous amiibo unlock special items like the Sword of the Sages from Twilight Princess or various Heroes outfits. Hopefully Wolf Link will still summon in your faithful Hero of Twilight companion.
