The Nintendo UK Store has announced the addition of two add-on content packs for Mario Kart 8, and they’re bringing in characters, karts and tracks from across the Nintendoverse.

According to the site, each pack includes three new characters, four karts, and eight courses. The newly added tracks will be comprised of raceways from The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing, as well as old favorites such as Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii.

The first of the two AOC packs comes out this November, and includes Link, Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach as new racers. The pack also comes with the Blue Falcon kart from F-Zero, along with three others. In May 2015, the second pack will arrive, and players will get to race with Isabelle and the Villager from Animal Crossing, and Dry Bowser.

By purchasing both packs, players will be treated to eight more Yoshis and eight Shy Guys in a variety of colors. Each pack is priced at £7.00.

Update: Both packs will be available in North America for $7.99, or you can purchase them both as a bundle for $11.99. Each download will require at least 1GB of free space on your Wii U.

I’ve never really been a mario fan, tho I admit there have been a few good games. I’m all about the Legend of Zelda tho. Link4ever! lol.
but anyways, my family has always liked getting the mario kart and mario party games. tho the Wii U in the house is mine, I’m sure if I’d made it more clear that they are more than welcome to get and play whatever games they like on it, that they’d get this game for sure. and if in fact they do, I may even for once consider playing it with them a bit. if I can play as Link that is.

If you got a family that playes video game, I recomend you spend some time with them doing so! Its something you will look back upon with great memories!

      • GreenLinkMaster

not meny of them really play games much now. but they used to like playing party games and such. Mario cart games were some of them. I’m not much of a racer, except in sonic zero gravity where I rip em all apart! but other than that I’m no racer. not a Mario cart fan at all. but link makes it worth it.

Well, I never thought that would happen. It is really awesome!

So where does this fit in the timeline?

    • Laurens Weyn

I’d assume in the same universe colliding one Hyrule Warrior’s in? It would be awesome if it were a sort of sequel to Hyrule Warriors, as in all Nintendo universes collided and in Hyrule Warriors you fight the bad guys that came with it, and once the problem is sorted out and under control Mario Kart 8 takes place and you have fun with the characters that got caught up in this mess (perhaps the Mario universe also collided somewhere else in the world?).

they should have made an epona shaped car

Link looks rather cramped on his vehicles, like he’s sitting in a bumper car built for a little kid.

  • Trinosaur

I didn’t care about Mario Kart 8 until this moment… well, apart from Luigi’s death stare. That still cracks me up. Seeing Link crammed onto a tiny kart is the most hilarious thing and I love it.

  • Ryan Haney

I’m looking at the eShop right now. It says the size of both put together is 512.0 KB, not 1GB.

  • That looks pretty great. This DLC looks to be a lot of fun.

Wow! Mario Kart 8 lookin’ real good.
