Chances are you may have heard of a game called Ocarina of Time. The fan favorite won third place in Greatest Ending in Video Game History in the Guinness Book of World Records, which is quite the accomplishment.

Zelda games in general tend to have pretty good endings with endings ranging from story wrap ups to new adventures right on the horizon. One of the reasons people tend to hold Ocarina of Time  in such high praise is because of the standards it set for all 3D Legend of Zelda games: the fantastic gameplay that it introduced, and the storytelling that the game managed to tell. It was a story about coming of age to become a true hero and destroy evil. Not only that, but it was the game that divided the timeline into three separate parts, which obviously had its impact on the series even until today. You can check out the top 50 best video game endings of all time after the jump.

This list was hotly debated by video gamers everywhere, as it should be. People have different opinions and hold some games higher than others in their minds, however the minds at Guiness World Record took this into consideration.

Gaz Deaves, Gaming Editor for Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer’s Edition, said more about what people look for in video game endings.

“Everyone has an opinion on how to end a game whether it’s an epic boss fight, a clever plot twist or a 90-minute movie.  This list recognises some of the greatest endings and hopefully will get gamers talking about what are their favourites and why.”

What do you guys think? Do any other Legend of Zelda games belong on that list that you think that Guinness missed? Let us know in the comments!
