Our friends at ChrisCrossMedia are at it again! They’ve recently put up a video inspired by one of our own articles, in which they detail the top five things that we’d rather not see repeated in Zelda Wii.

I already have Wii motion plus so I don't care about that and I disagree with the voice acting thing I think they should just do what they did in Metroid prime 3. And the idea of link and Ganon working together sounds dumb.

  • ChainofTermina

Link and Ganon working together? I don't know….that sounds a little sketchy. but actually you said a rather intriguing point. the "same" Ganon………that's it! The villain could be Ganon's Descendant! Just like Link and Zelda! that might work……maybe……..I think…… whatever.

And didn't mind the voice acting in Mario Sunshine. I thought it was kinda nice. actually I was disappointed there wasn't any in Mario Galaxy. And I think it would be cool if other people in Zelda (everybody except Link) talked. they already do, why not put voices to them?

I highly disagree with #2. I honestly don't see what people whine about so much. As far as I know, Nintendo doesn't really have a history of hiring terrible Voice Actor's, after all, they got Mario right on the first try (as in, SM64). People that use the cartoon and CD-i games as an excuse just fail to realize Nintendo had little to no involvement with those. But this has been debated waaay too many times, so I'll shut up now.

    • Violet

Nintendo doesn't really have a history of hiring bad voice actors but then they don't have much of a history of hiring voice actors full stop. The problem I personally have with voice acting is simply that Nintendo games are heavily localised so the option of selecting the almost inevitably better Japanese voice acting won't be there.

But yeah, argument has been done to death.

  • these guys don't know what they're talking about, ganon and link team up is a dumb idea, you use your items in other dungeons also in other games and voice actors would be great.

#1: Absolutely! I want useful items that I can use later. That is the top thing on my list to change. Spot on.
#2: Disagreeable. I actually like the idea of voice acting. If it's done right, of course.
#3: New boss = Yes PLEASE! Team together = Ain't no way! Personally, I don't think that it's the same Ganon every game. I DO think that it's the same Ganon in OOT and TP, but with others he just doesn't seem to connect. But a new boss is another one that would be great. But two mortal enemies teaming together? I wouldn't do something like that unless I was Hayao Miyazaki.
#4: Yes, yes, and yes. Don't make us spend all our money Nintendo or you'll quickly loose customers.
#5: Duh. Who doesn't want that?

  • Moochy

Link and Ganon teaming up? That sounds corny and absurd. No, please. I personally love Ganondorf, and don't think he'll ever wear out his welcome, but a new villian couldnt hurt, especially after what they did with Majora.

I personally don't believe that a delay will occur with this Zelda. I've heard many people say it will be, but the truth is that Zelda's track record is relatively clean delay wise. It was for the most part Twilight Princess which goes on record of being the most delayed Zelda title ever, and in the end it to me was not any more polished in comparison to other Zelda titles.

So I'm hoping that they will stick to a deadline and get it out, cause it will force them to stop over thinking things and maybe take a chance. I mean two of the chanciest Zelda's in my opinion were Majora's Mask and Wind Waker which were both developed in short time spans and although each had little things that made the games feel a little less then perfect, in the end they've proven to be extremely different experience wise in comparison to many Zelda titles.

So I'm hoping they spend too much time worrying… stop trying to achieve perfection (which is biased anyhow and everyone has their own idea of perfection). The only things that need to be perfect are things like controls, camera, overall design and gameplay. Let the other things like style, story and such just flow and not worry to much how people will judge the game.

That's when truly unique stuff comes into being.

  • mclennon27

as much as i like ganondorf, i think that maybe they should introduce a new villain. heres the twist. just how ganon always uses "puppets" like zant, they should have another villain who uses ganon and then kills him and proves to be more powerful than the triforce of power.

    • Hyrule Weirdo

That sounds great don't make Ganondorf the main bad guy, make the main bad guy kill him off!

  • these guys don't know what they're talking about, ganon and link team up is a dumb idea, they already did that in smash bros brawl, you use your items in other dungeons also in other games and voice actors would be great.

    ALL CHECKED!…kinda XD

ALL BULL. And I'm not one to disagree usually..

    1) how often have items become useless after their dungeons? The times they DON'T outweigh the times they DO.

    2) Voice acting.. whatever. They can do what they want.

    3) Ganondorf is a STAPLE of the franchise!! It's like Bowser- he's in major games, and mentioned or not mentioned in minor games- that's the way it is! ST is on the road away from Ganon, but that's it.

    4) When you bundle something, they're both relatively NEW. Wii Motion Plus will have been out far too long.. I don't disagree that it'd be a nice addition to bundle them, but let's not ruin it by WANTING.. let it be a suprise.

    5) REALLY??? you don't think Nintendo had GOOD reasons for delays? REALLY? Okay, go ahead and make a Zelda game. Set a hopeful date, and YOU stick to it. Junk happens. Get the heck over it. At least they give us a product they're proud of, no matter how long it takes.

Actually with Twilight Princess they had some really lame reasons for the delays… for starters the first delay was because they wanted to add bloom lighting affects and go from the shadow, grey scale world of twilight to the golden sunset style world.

The second delay was to make it a Wii launch title and so they had to mirror everything in the game and up the textures and certain details as well as map the new controllers and motion specific stuff.

The second delay was more worth while, as I personally enjoyed the widescreen motion plus version of the game. Yet on the flip side was it worth delaying well over a year. Especially when you put into consideration that no additional content was put into the story overall.

Not like it was horrible reasons, and in the end it worked out the best for the Wii being a launch title. The truth is though that other then a strategic marketing plan delaying Twilight Princess didn't serve any considerable worth while reason for the delay.

I also wanted to add that Spirit Tracks isn't the first to stray away from the Ganon road… Majora's Mask was, and it did a much better job then Spirit Tracks. Maladus is a Ganon wannabe… Majora is just plain crazy evil and has his own style.

As far as Motion +, I don't care if it's bundled in or not, but my bet is that it will bundle it in simply for the sake of adding additional value to the package and pusing the peripheral further guaranteeing that more developers will design games that use the feature.

I will agree with you on the items becoming useless after a dungeon… there's actually only been one instance of this, which is again Twilight Princess. Most Zelda games in general have very useful weapons that are re-used through out the game. Items like the hookshot, bow and arrow, and bombs are always quite useful. In TP is the only case where you have items such as the Dominion Rod, Spinner, and the more then useless Sling Shot (which becomes pointless after you get the bow). Even the boomerang is somewhat down graded and seems to be less then useful against enemies.

Twilight Princess is actually where most of these complaints generate from. It had so much potential. Zant was mysterious and made a wonderful villain but they ruined it…. they had imaginative new items but they became literally useless after a short while of having them… I'm not saying that Twilight Princess was a bad game, but lets face it, they waffled in what they wanted it to be and that's why it is one of the weakest Zelda games.

  • Hyrule Weirdo

The only thing in this that I disagree with is Ganondorf and Link teaming up. It just makes no sense if the hgame started out like that, when Link gets the green tunic, Ganondorf is gonna turn against him.

I don't agree with the Ganon part! Teaming up with link? Pff.. I wan't Ganon. The same Ganon as in every game. Link and Zelda is reborn. Ganon is not. He is pure evil, and as long as there is some form of evil in the world, he will be around. Different evils wake him up. But it is always the same Ganon! Although I don't think it would ruin the series if there was another main villain. Ganon could be lurkin in the background though, and reappear in the next game.
And the argument "it's kind of repetitive" doesn't really apply to a Zelda game. Dude.. It's Zelda. The whole game is repetetive! But thats also why we love it!

Voice acting killed Sunshine? What? I had no problem with Sunshine, and who says voice acting couldn't work for Zelda? Give everyone but Link a voice if you have the opportunity to!

"Link and Ganon should team up!"

    Stopped listening here. Retarded.

Link and Ganon should team up?…….Did they not here what they said? I mean omg why? Why would anyone want that? I mean look at Sonic and Eggman they team up and its damn pathetic cause next game he's trying to kill him again I wish one of them would kill the damn other one, no enemies should never tema up EVER! unless of course good guys go bad or bad guys go good (Vegeta from DBZ) I also think no voice acting? Are you mad? Zelda needs to move with the times, and don't say it doesnt cause Anouma-san and Miyamoto-san both have said it, I personally think voice acting like Midna is the way to go, so it can portray emotion. And delas is what makes Zelda, well Zelda lol they've all had delays except Spirit Tracks, which I must say for me is the second worst Zelda I've played, but its still a BRILLIANT game just by Zelda standards poor.

  • BlackYuri

Finally, someone intelligent makes a list… Though I must agree that Ganon teaming up with Link would be utter FAIL. Let's leave that weak formula for Bowser hm? :/

they should definitely not team up but I would love to be able to use all of my items outside of dungeons multiple times rather than just my hookshot and bow and arrow. I'd like online play, meeting up with my friends in Hyrule to either just explore together or hunt each other using all of our items would be the best! A new villain would be refreshing, keep ganondorf in the game though, he's a trademark character! maybe have Zelda play a big role like in Spirit Tracks.Being able to fight bosses over and over again would be good too. There's some bosses I would love to fight over and over but I don't want to have to use up all of my other Saving slots just to do that.

I so still never want the motion-based sword-swinging. I so don't see it ever working well enough. Hate it. Good idea but just doesn't work.

  • Green Thunder

Ganon's a trademark of the Zelda series, like Bowser is to Mario. He shouldn't be replaced. Teaming up with a guy who tried to kill you is dumb idea too. I agree with #1, though, metal boots, boomerang, Zora and Goron tunics, Mirror Shield, bombchus, and more all lost it's value after the dungeons, but items like the boomerang could still be used for combat reasons. Voice acting is a terrible idea, grunts, yelps, etc. are enough for me, I think voice acting would ruin the game. Navi voice acted in OoT, and she was extremely annoying. Every few seconds "Hey! Listen! Watch out!" Ugh…..
Delays are good, that means they are improving graphics, music, game play, etc. I'm sure many of you don't buy the game on the first day it comes out, anyway, do you? Also, if the game is bundled with a Wii Motion plus, the game will be more expensive, and if you already have 4 Motion pluses, you'll be forced to buy a Motion plus that you don't need.
