A free Age of Imprisonment update is out now with another one on the way

UPDATED 11/26/25 EST: Version 1.0.2 has arrived and includes the first update. This article now reflects the same.

Days after Age of Imprisonment‘s release, it was confirmed by Koei Tecmo’s official Hyrule Warriors account on X that two free updates would be coming to the game in the near future.

We can now share that the first update, ver 1.0.2., is here! This update consists of new sync strikes, weapons, enemies, battles and challenges alongside basic bug fixes and functionality improvements.

Starting off, new Battle and Hyrule Challenges are being added for more fighting fun after the main story.

A sync strike between Calamo and Princess Zelda is being added, involving him throwing his boomerang while Zelda charges it with her Power of Time for a follow-up attack. If you press the attack button at the right time to catch the boomerang, it’ll make the attack even more powerful. This is learned by completing the new Hyrule Challenges added in the updates.

The other sync strike is with the Flux Construct, where it performs a powerful spinning attack that knocks down enemies and reduces the gauge of stronger enemies.

Two new weapons are also being added, the “Greatsword of Light”, a sword blessed with the power of light by Rauru and the “Spear of the Upper Guard”, a spear issued to the soldiers directly under the King of Hyrule’s command. These can be wielded by the mysterious Construct and by the warriors of different races and are both unlocked by beating the new Battle Challenges.

New “Vicious Enemies” are being added, including what appears to be new “vicious” types of Bokoblins and Sludge Likes.” Fuse Attacks that are activated using the materials gained from Vicious Bokoblins are significantly more powerful than those using previous materials.

Lastly, various bug fixes and functionality improvements are being added. A full list of these updates can be found on the official Hyrule Warriors website and were previously only listed in Japanese. Now it’s available in English, too.

The previous Hyrule Warriors game, Age of Calamity, had two waves of paid DLC that were released in an expansion pass. There’s hope that there could be even more paid DLC similar to this update and a second free update later for Age of Imprisonment, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. Fans can still look forward to at least one more free update in the future.

Until then, have fun enjoying these new additions to Age of Imprisonment!
