Nintendo announced on social media channels Wednesday that all-new vinyl record sets of the Breath of the Wild original soundtrack are now available to preorder for fans in Europe and the United States. Customers have the opportunity to preorder a color 2LP or an 8LP box set through the My Nintendo online store as well as the Laced Records website. Standard black vinyl sets will be coming to the Nintendo New York and San Francisco stores. The colored 2LP vinyl features a dreamy blue and white marbled look, while the 8LP set has a lovely blue, white and gold pattern. Thanks to the help of Laced Records, Nintendo will release these sets for retail sale in June 19, 2026.
“The 8-LP Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Soundtrack Box Set includes 130 tracks, all newly remastered for the vinyl format,” stated Nintendo in a press release. “Each of the eight discs is sequenced around a theme, which mirrors the progression of the game experience. Themes revolve around exploring the Kingdom of Hyrule, freeing the Divine Beasts from Calamity Ganon’s hold and discovering the mysteries of the Shrines.”
The marketing move is the first of its kind, as original soundtracks featuring The Legend of Zelda are typically only available in Japanese and Asian markets. Nintendo Vice President of Player and Product Experience Bill Trinen explains to Variety how the Breath of the Wild vinyls are a test market strategy. “In the Japanese market, CD is still a pretty prominent format there, and they do a lot of video game soundtracks on CD in Japan, and they’ve been doing that for years and years. Here in the U.S., we haven’t been releasing much in the way of physical soundtracks at all. And so partly, this is a little bit about us trying to gage and understand what is the demand for physical soundtracks in the United States. Part of this is also simply an interest in trying to bring video game music to a broader audience, and it’s part of a few steps that we’ve taken.”
Bill Trinen pointed out that the announcement also nods to the Nintendo Music App’s first anniversary this week. If you haven’t already downloaded it, it’s a mobile app that allows Nintendo Switch Online subscribers to listen to original tracks of various games from the first Legend of Zelda game to Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom and more.
“There’s an app that you can download for your phone that has retro soundtracks dating back to the NES era, all the way up to more modern soundtracks from the Switch, and even some music from the Switch 2 era on it, as well. So we’re really trying to broaden exposure to our overall very, very large music library, but also then trying to find different ways to deliver it to different fans of music,” says Triner.
The Breath of the Wild vinyl record sets are composed by Soshi Abe, Manaka Kataoka, Hajime Wakai and Yasuaki Iwata and they are available for preorder now while supplies last on the My Nintendo Store site in U.S. and European regions as well as the Laced Records website.
