In the latest Nintendo Direct, a two minute trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment was shown, revealing an assortment of new characters.
There are two new characters who are prominently featured within the game’s box art.
One is a Zonai construct that has taken on a Hylian-like form resembling Link’s design in Tears of the Kingdom. It looks like it has the ability to change forms as it is seen soaring through the air with the help of a Zonai Wing device before shifting back to normal. While this character’s role and name still hasn’t been discussed, it looks like it plays a bigger role in the game seeing as this isn’t the first time it has been teased. Though, fans have noticed a rendition of Fi’s theme playing in past trailers surrounding the introduction of this character. Could it have something to do with the Master Sword or Link?

The other is a Korok who wears a scarf around its neck with a pattern similar to Rauru’s cloaks and has a leaf on its head similar to a Robin Hood hat. This little guy seems to pack a big punch, throwing an assortment of Fire Fruit, Ice Fruit and Shock Fruit at a horde of enemies before igniting them with a flick of a stick-like weapon. Some Zelda fans are speculating that this could be a younger version of Hestu, the silly maraca-playing Korok in Tears of the Kingdom.

A new playable Gerudo character wielding a large sword was also shown during a Sync Strike sequence. There are a few features that offset her from the typical Gerudo, seeing as she is wearing a skirt similar to Riju and Urbosa’s versus the pants that many NPCs wear. Maybe she is their ancestor? Seeing as she is with the ancient Gerudo Sage, she most likely is a rebel Gerudo who aligns herself with Zelda and the others!

While not an entirely new character, the face of the ancient Goron Sage was finally shown during the GameShare display! He looks to have a thin white mustache and a smirk on his face. At least this means the faces of the other sages should be shown at some point during the game’s events.

A couple of new enemies were also revealed in the Direct! Towards the beginning of the trailer, a mummified looking creature with flowing red hair and long tendrils with flowers on the tips is being attacked by the ancient Zora Sage. The creature also has some sort of gold crown atop its head and its lower half looks as if it is wearing pants made of Gloom. In many aspects, it resembles Phantom Ganon. Could it be a new form? Or maybe even a new character entirely!

A gigantic creature resembling a Lynel was shown atop a large boulder, made up of a mix of both molten and Gloom parts. Seeing its raw size and the signature large eye that many Zelda iconic enemies have had in the past, it could be a new boss or mini-boss!
While we won’t know all the details about these new characters until the game releases November 6, that only means there’s more time for fans to build their own theories about them.
