Princess Zelda plans new railroad infrastructure, some Hyruleans balk

Now that the Upheaval has (somewhat) quieted down in Hyrule and Princess Zelda is found, the darling of Hyrule has already set new sights for rebuilding the Kingdom, and that vision includes a never-before-seen mechanical marvel — a network of moving machines called “trains.” These vehicles won’t need horses to move, but will actually move on their own with a person at the helm! How is such a thing possible? Well, apparently trains are powered by steam and move along paths of metal bars called “tracks” to guide them. According to Her Highness’s research, this technology is actually quite ancient. It was once utilized in Hyrule as a primary means of transportation at a time not known to modern day.

Princess Zelda recently proposed the idea of trains with local Hyrulean leaders in the Rebuilding Hyrule Committee meeting. Most were excited by the proposal, notably the Gorons. Yunobo Co. is currently drafting up a blueprint in the hopes that the trains will be compatible with its current mining operation. Chief Riju of the Gerudo also expressed interest for its potential to promote safer trade routes in the harsh conditions of the Gerudo Desert. King Sidon of the Zora joined in with great enthusiasm, assuring the Princess by proclaiming, “I believe in you!”

A rare glimpse at the ancient map Princess Zelda discovered in her archeological expeditions. According to her hypothesis, Hyrule once used machines called “trains” a very long time ago.

But not all in the Committee were ready to jump on board Zelda’s radical train change.

“Trains? I don’t know about that…” trailed off Chief Paya of Karariko Village. The historical town has long been home to the Sheikah tribe. While it’s true they were once known for sophisticated technology, they later abandoned it for a quieter farming lifestyle after the technology backfired in the great Calamity tragedy. “I have a pretty full plate right now, with the Ring Ruins and all. They’re the future of Kakariko, yes. But I don’t think taking on more than one future at a time is a good idea at the moment…”

The sleepy town has recently received much attention when mysterious ring-shaped ruins fell out of the sky after the Upheaval. The odd Zonai ruins have garnered much attention to scientists and brought a tourist boom to Kakariko.

Chief Teba of the Rito tribe is intrigued by the train technology, but commented that since the Rito’s primary form of transportation is flight, he stated that trains were “not necessary” and that it would be better if the Princess focused Hyrule’s resources on building the military instead. “It’s a novel idea, to be sure,” said Teba, “but I don’t think it’s fair to tax Hyrule’s citizens on something that won’t be utilized by everyone. The Rito certainly doesn’t need trains.”

Not everyone has hopped aboard Princess Zelda’s proposal. Chief Teba of the Rito tribe stated that trains would not be necessary in the Kingdom’s infrastructure.

When asked about taxing specifics regarding a new train infrastructure, the Royal Family spokesperson Impa declined to comment. Nonetheless, Princess Zelda’s excitement about the discovery is unmistakeable and it will probably happen anyway. You never know what the Princess will think of next.
