Update 10/12/23: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the dates mentioned in this article have changed. The release date has been pushed back to October 17, 2023.
There are some gamers out there who just love collecting any and all things containing artwork or literature of our favorite games. Zelda gamers are no different. Speaking personally, I used to love collecting the manuals of The Legend of Zelda games as they contained most of the artwork and literature that helped set the tone and scenes of our beloved world of Hyrule and give us more insight into the lore and story. Then as I got older, I would collect issues of Nintendo Power, especially ones that contained info on any Zelda game coming out at the time. Eventually, my love for Zelda led me to the Hyrule Historia book and more recently the Twilight Princess manga. Finding any works or media on anything you love can be exciting and Lost in Cult’s gaming journal [lock-on] has captured that magical feeling of nostalgia.

Lost in Cult’s products are some of the highest-quality publications you can find. [lock-on], their gaming journal, contains some of the most awe-inspiring visuals from extremely talented artists to numerous long form-essays, and even concept galleries. They cover a myriad of games from the early days of gaming culture all the way to the present. From indie titles to AAA, [lock-on] leaves no stone unturned as they deep dive into development retrospectives from various people in the gaming industry. They include thoughtful analysis from various writers and even touching personal reflections and interviews with people such as Matt Mercer who plays the voice of Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom.
[lock-on]’s latest Volume 006 is set to be Lost in Cult’s biggest one yet. Slated to have over 400 pages, this issue will cover many games from past to present, with The Legend of Zelda set to receive a special 70-page focus celebrating everything in the Zelda universe from as early as The Legend of Zelda II: Link’s Adventure, all the way up to Tears of the Kingdom, and it is expected to release on October 10, 2023. As a special promotion, Lost in Cult has arranged an affiliate code for Zelda Universe community members to use that works not just on their latest issue but the entire store as well. We’ll keep you posted as more information about that becomes available.
Volume 006 will come in three different versions:
- The Standard Edition, which is a softcover book that contains Starward Industries’ The Invincible on the cover,
- The Premium Edition, which is a hardcover book that contains original Final Fantasy artwork from legendary artist Yoshitaka Amano,
- And finally, the Deluxe Edition which contains the same content as the Premium Edition in addition to numerous cards, prints, and stickers from various other games as well as a folded Yoshitaka Amano poster.
They even have a softcover series that spans their previous volumes called [lock-on]: The Story So Far.

Also included in The Legend of Zelda section will be a detailed history of various Zelda games spanning from the 1980’s up to now as well as essays from various members of the Zelda Universe Team, the Zelda Dungeon Team, a member of Bungie, a producer from Studio MDHR, Youtuber Hotcyder, and an interview with the above mentioned Matt Mercer. With all these amazing people coming together, this issue is definitely one you won’t want to miss.
