Artist creates horrifyingly realistic depictions of Ocarina of Time’s scariest monsters

Over on Twitter, concept artist Andres Rios posted some gruesome reimaginings of Ocarina of Time’s scariest enemies, which include Bongo Bongo, ReDeads, Big Skulltula, and last but certainly not least, the Dead Hand. These iconic enemies can all be found in the Shadow Temple behind Kakariko Village’s Graveyard, one of the most horrifying locations in the game. That being said, these super-realistic renders are sure to give you nightmares, if you already weren’t creeped out enough before.

Taking a close look at Bongo Bongo, one can see gore dripping from the disembodied hands, its spine clearly visible while surrounded by flaps of bloody skin. The Dead Hand’s body is covered with wounds that ooze with blood, its gaping mouth ready to bite anything in its path. While the Big Skulltula and ReDeads aren’t as grotesque as the other two, they are certainly just as terrifying to look at.

As a bonus, Rios posted similar, haunting images of a Stalfos and Big Poe. In his free time, he is working on more renders of Ocarina of Time’s Volvagia, Gohma, Darknut, and Stalchild.

In a Twitter conversation with Nintendo Life, Rios stated that he picked these four enemies in particular because, like many of us, they were the ones that scared him the most as a child. In the future, he says he would love to create even more fanart from other titles such as Majora’s Mask and The Wind Waker.
