A limited-edition version of The Legend Of Zelda sold for $4,000 due to ramen branding

Recently, a limited edition copy of The Legend of Zelda was sold for around $4,000 on Yahoo! Auctions because it contained a special edition sticker on the cartridge. This special edition of the game could only be acquired through a sweepstake that an instant noodle company was running near its release.

The company Charumera collaborated with Nintendo to award 1,500 winners this special edition copy of the game in 1986. This edition of the game included a Charumera sticker on its cartridge. It is not uncommon for old video games to gain value based on their rarity especially when it is a limited version of the video game. The fact that this version of The Legend of Zelda sold for so much because of a giveaway that an instant noodle company did so long ago is a little bizarre.

The game was sold at an auction in Japan for 453,000 yen which is comparable to $3,966 USD. However, this is not the first time this edition of the game has been sold before. This version of The Legend Of Zelda has been sold a couple of times over its 35-year history and has sold over the $1,000 mark multiple times, though never before has the price reached this high.

This is the special version of the game

According to Gaming Alexandria, there is no difference between this special release and the original besides the label. Unfortunately, our dreams of Link collecting cups of noodles to restore health are squashed!
