UnderMine, originally launched for Xbox One (via Game Pass) and Steam for PC last August, has already been downloaded over 600,000 times. Now, the developer Thorium has announced on Twitter that Nintendo Switch users will be able to get in on the action-adventure roguelike game available for preorder February 4, with the full release coming on February 11.
Holding a 9/10 rating on Steam, the PC version was described by Eurogamer as “a distilled version of Zelda on SNES… if Zelda were confined to a dungeon.” From screenshots alone, players can get the sense that UnderMine’s presentation and design evoke classic 2D Legend of Zelda with a top-down perspective and dungeon-style layout for each floor. Just look at the outfits in the promotion video; it screams Link from Zelda!
Players take on the role of a myriad of miners who must take on enemies beneath the earth to protect the village. Along the way, discoveries of riches, resources, and other characters will aid the player in their journey. But be warned, the game quickly ramps up in difficulty with its broad variety of enemies and rooms to explore that are randomly generated with RPG elements so no two games are alike.
Launching at $19.99 in the Switch eShop, UnderMine seems to promise great value for hours of entertainment.
