Last week a game called Final Sword launched on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Developed by HUP Games, the title is described as an “original action RPG.” Final Sword caused a little bit of a stir in the community, because it reuses an iconic track from the Zelda series.
Yeah, that’s right, it’s none other than “Zelda’s Lullaby.” Instead of sounding similar, it is basically a carbon copy of the track. We’ve played enough of Ocarina of Time and the like to recognize it!
After being available for a short period of time, Final Sword has been removed from the Japanese eShop. Nintendo obviously discovered this infringement on the Zelda series and have taken action. Other regions have followed suit, with Final Sword now being unavailable in North America and Europe.
It’s surprising to see such a blatant copy and paste of a popular composition from Zelda. Nintendo takes ownership of their properties very seriously, so it was only a matter of time before it was removed. The game was probably buried underneath the sheer amount of games launching on the eShop every week. HUP Games tried to be stealthy it seems, but it was too obvious to ignore.
