The Sheikah are arguably the most mysterious and elusive race in the Zelda series, and while they work in the shadows, their absence in Twilight Princess did not go unnoticed. In a new YouTube video, Theorist Hyrule Gamer attempts to explain what happened to them in the events between Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess.
Hyrule Gamer looks into traces of the Sheikah hidden throughout the game, including the design of Princess Zelda’s cloak, Madame Fanadi, Impaz, and the Hidden Village. In this theory, it is believed that the Hidden Village was once the Kakariko Village found in Ocarina of Time, with the events of Ocarina of Time only occurring about twenty years ago.
Assuming this very close time placement is correct, the Sheikah could still have been trying to recover from the Hylian Civil War that plagued Hyrule before Ocarina of Time’s events. With the Hidden Village being overrun by monsters in Twilight Princess, it’s possible that the already struggling tribe was unable to survive.
