So, this is hard.
I’ve been following the artist Qinni (Qing Han) for several months now. She was a very talented, very funny young artist who would tweet out her art and thoughts for any and all who were willing to take the time to look and listen.
Qinni was also a four-time open heart surgery survivor and recently diagnosed with stage 4 fibrosis sarcoma cancer. She passed on Monday, February 10, and leaves us with a collection of breathtaking and, many times, emotionally charged pieces.
Her work spanned many mediums but always brought beautiful color to dream-like imagery that took form and expanded it to include emotion that never needed translation. Qinni’s work has an almost fairytale-like aesthetic that creates fantastic and surreal imagery from everyday backgrounds and the most mundane activities.
Qinni’s appreciation for manga, anime, and video games was seen in her art regularly, so I wanted to share some of her most visible Zelda pieces with the community. Qinni approached life with positivity, personality, and humor, despite everything. In and of themselves, these are gifts. On top of these gifts, she blessed us with her beautiful art and, as we continue to share her work, she will always be with us.
