Triforce Quartet’s ‘Minuet of Time’ album is an elegant celebration of video game music

Minuet of Time, the third album of video game covers from Triforce Quartet, comes out October 24. The new album from the classically trained group of string players features music from games including Ocarina of Time, Hollow Knight, Undertale, and others.

Those with a background in music or dance will recognize a minuet as having a 3/4 time signature. With this being the third album from a group of four Zelda fans, the album title Minuet of Time has a little extra meaning.

Triforce Quartet was awesome enough to send me a review copy of their newest album. The music is beautifully arranged and performed, with a relaxing and almost romantic-sounding quality. It’s nice to have playing in the background while working, but it would also be fitting for a formal event. Listening to the album, the classical style took me back to my All-State Chorus days, and I felt right at home.

Being a Zelda fan, I, of course, love their Ocarina of Time “Title Theme” cover, but the big standout for me is the Skies of Arcadia main theme. I can easily picture a Disney princess dancing with her prince when I hear it, and if I weren’t already married, I’d want it played at my wedding! I’ve never played Skies of Arcadia, but their cover of the theme alone is enough to make me want to give it a try.

What I love about the music performed by Triforce Quartet is that gaming fans get excited when they recognize music from some of their favorite games, while listeners unfamiliar with video games hear their orchestrations as sophisticated classical pieces of music.

You can purchase and download Minuet of Time from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and Google Play.
