When Sidon first flashed his spectacular smile at us in Breath of the Wild, so many fan-girls (and fanboys; let’s not discriminate) collectively swooned. Looking more shark than Zora, Prince Sidon is definitely one of the more strapping Zoras, but before he grew old enough to flex his fins, he was also one of the cutest baby Zoras.
In the Champion’s Ballad expansion, we get a flashback of Mipha together with a young Sidon, who is so ridiculously cute with his rosy cheeks and huge smile that I can’t even. The collective minds of more Zelda fans were lost and the fan art went wild. The piece I’m looking at today though, by artist Amanda Oei Wells, goes one step further at showing us a young Sidon. It’s baby Sidon. Newborn. As small as a kitten and cuter than ever.

Based on Link’s memories and interactions with the Zoras (as well as shameless snoops of Mipha’s diary), we know that before he slept for a hundred years, he was close friends with Mipha and the Zora race. So, this scenario that Amanda has drawn — with Mipha introducing young Link to her newborn brother Sidon — isn’t far-fetched at all. And I love it.
The fact that our big boi Prince Sidon could once fit in that tiny urn is adorable, as is that little smile he flashes Link for the first time. The wonder and adoration in Link’s eyes as he meets baby Sidon is equally sweet. I love the idea that their relationship literally goes back more than a hundred years.
One day, these two little cuties would be all grown up and working together to save Hyrule, all while Mipha — I imagine — overflowed with pride.
