Gods & Monsters, a Breath of the Wild Style game, announced by Ubisoft at E3

Just as you thought the Ubisoft E3 press conference was ending, they had their “one final game” announcement: Gods & Monsters. You’ll take control of a hero to the gods in an open world environment. Right away Zelda fans will notice the similarities between this new game and Breath of the Wild, both in its aesthetics, and how the trailer itself was presented.

The original teaser for Breath of the Wild for comparison

Gods & Monsters is being created by the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey team, and is using Greek myth as its foundation. It has a more stylized and fantastical appearance compared this team’s previous works and they seem to be excited about this change of pace. You’ll be traversing the land in pretty expected ways for an action-adventure game (running, jumping, stamina meter, etc), but according to a Kotaku preview, you have special bird powers as well. You’ll be able to float off perches and can use telekinetic abilities to toss enemies (you know, like any normal bird would do). When comparisons to Breath of the Wild were brought up, the developers were actually quite flattered, but said their story will be how Gods & Monsters stands apart.

We may not know too much about this new adventure, but it does hold promise from a seasoned developer.
