Rest easy, weary traveler. You have arrived at one of Hyrule’s sparse stables, where you can board your steed, cook a hearty meal, hear news of goings-on across the land, and take a well-deserved load off. If nothing else, you can relax to the soothing music while you put your boots up.
The stables in Breath of the Wild are a welcome sight for fatigued adventurers. Even before you arrive, the “Stables Theme” beckons you closer, promising a break from the harsh wilderness, company among fellow voyagers, and of course, sidequests. The calming melody invites you to stick around and shoot the breeze, offering a brief respite from your many trials. TheToader excellently captures this feeling in his acoustic guitar cover.
TheToader plays four guitar parts to create his beautiful cover. He uses the body of the guitar for percussive effects, mimicking a small drum. The melody sings exquisitely on acoustic guitar — dare I say even more so than in the original. Underneath are steady rhythms that keep the piece moving and add interesting texture through complicated chord structures. This cover is very pacifying, making for great study, lullaby, or even alarm clock music.
Interspersed throughout the video are clips of Link interacting with the dogs found at the stables, one of the best uses of time in the game. Let’s be honest, most of us would rather interact with these good pups than with most people.

My only qualm with the cover is that it doesn’t include the version of “Epona’s Theme” played by Kass at various stables. I won’t let that hold me back from listening to this cover after a long day, as the sun goes down and with my dog by my side, contemplating the adventures before and ahead. Unwind and enjoy!
