The latest issue of Retro Gamer features a 10-page-spread titled “30 years of entertainment,” which boasts an interview with the NES creator.  

Retro Gamer spoke to Masayuki Uemura at the National Videogame Arcade in Nottingham, with interpreter Akinori “aki” Nakamura. The interview details just how much the NES controller was influenced by the Donkey Kong Game & Watch title, that the colour scheme of the Famicom was lifted from a scarf, and that the name of the console came from Uemura’s wife. The article also features boxes outlining more of Uemura’s work, game’s that pushed the NES’s capabilities, details about the hardware specs, and more.
