Nintendo released an official PR statement earlier this week regarding the future of Club Nintendo. Fans can continue to earn coins from various Nintendo titles until March 31, 2015, with the exception of any titles produced after January 20. Said coins must be used by June 30, 2015, as well, and Elite status members will still get a little something before the end of the program.

This is quite a big deal, as the program has been running for six years, offering free goodies such as downloadable titles and physical items. What’s more, Nintendo is planning on implementing a “new customer loyalty program”. This could be a good step if it goes the direction that Mr. Iwata had mentioned earlier last year. And hey, as long as you’re a Club Nintendo member, you’ll get a free download code for Flipnote Studio 3D!

Let the coin gathering — and spending — begin, before time runs out!

It’s sad to see it go, but there haven’t really been many cool physical prizes in quite some time. Last year gold and platinum members just got a choice from a small list of downloadable games.

Hopefully they’ll decide to go out with a bang this year. 🙂

    • Majora’s Espurr

      Nope, Digital items again…

    • Deva Ashera

Yup..a ‘Wide Selection of Digital titles for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS’ it seems will be the rewards again.
Dammit..they could have at least saved some of the physical rewards they’re promising for that..

  • Ulises

I hope that the last platinum and gold status gifts are great, because the last year, the games suck.

    • Deva Ashera least throw up more options since, I dunno, if you reached Platinum Status, chances are you bought a fair amount of the games available..
Personally, I’m hoping they give away Bayonetta/Bayonetta 2..though I foresee that being unlikely..

      • Ulises

It will probably be mario party advance or pushmo :/

        • Deva Ashera

I’m sure there will be a few good games, like how they had Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and EarthBound..I just hope that the only good games aren’t ones I already have, like Super Mario 3D World, Wind Waker HD, DKC Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros (either ver), or Hyrule Warriors.
I’d be fine with them being included as long as some of the other good games are ones I don’t have, like A Link to the Past.

  • Merylas

I’m calling it already: in February, they’re putting up one more wave of physical rewards. They’ll probably go up around February 13th and will include several colors of the N3DS XL Charging Cradle, some screen protectors, a rainbow of N3DS Pens, two Majora’s Mask-related items, a Codename STEAM thingy, and some of the Felyne Pins (like the GS Pre-Order one) for MH4U.

Anybody know if the platinum status I currently have will stick around until this is over? I ask because idk when that resets, but I still have games I haven’t registered yet that could go towards platinum status if it does reset.

    • Ryan Haney

It reset on July 1, 2014. You can point at the badge on the top right of the Club Nintendo page to see your current status. You can register any games or hardware that were released before 1-20-15 for coins.

      • Domingo Cardona

Ah thanks for the info. looks like I’m platinum until this is all over, so I better register all my games now then.

  • Fantom Rockman

it would be good if they do something like club nintendo but not only for America & Japan, also Europe. I have nintendo club codes that i cant use and that’s annoying..

    • Natural Harmonia

Can I have them then? 😮

  • Haydn Cawley

Is it just ending in the US or is it worldwide?
