One year ago, the team here at Zelda Universe decided to spend the month of March celebrating the Zelda CD-i games. As was said at the time, “It is written, the month of March on ZU is also the month of the Zelda CD-i games.” The month of March is upon us once again and since we know how much you guys loved last year’s look back at these so-bad-they’re-hilarious games, we’ve decided that it’s time for mah boi and all of his friends to make  a return.

The deal is the same as last year: each day during March we’ll be posting CD-i-related content. We’ll be looking at the unholy Triforce of the Zelda series from all angles: articles, fan art, podcasts, YouTube poop, contests and more. The CD-i board is back on our forums, allowing you to interact with other Zelda fans and talk about how much you love (or don’t love) these games.

Want to know more about CD-ii month? Today’s podcast is a special CD-ii month edition in which myself, Hombre de Mundo and Cody talk about the CD-i games, what CD-i month is all about and how it was received last year.

Are you as excited as I am to step back into the world of Zelda as envisioned by Philips?

I’m sure some will be disappointed…

    … a lot, too.

Well the thing with these games are that we can use them as a comparison point (to an extent) for the rest of the Zelda series. It also shows us that voice acting in Zelda has to be taken super serious or it won’t likely work at all.

We like to pretend that the CD-i never happened

I would like to play through these stories if they just redid the graphics and mechanics. I don’t think I would have the patients to get all the way through them based on last year’s videos. Just like how I’ve never finished Zelda II because every time I come across a Darknut I die and have to restart from the starting place.

noo… not again… that abomination has no place here
