Tears of the Kingdom: How to find the Apapes Lightroot

by on June 23, 2023

Various lightroots, including the Apapes Lightroot, can only be found by descending into the Depths from specific chasms.

Finding the Apapes Lightroot

To find the Apapes Lightroot, you must first locate the Hyrule Castle Moat East Chasm. Return to the surface if you’re in the Depths, and make your way to Central Hyrule. The chasm is on the island between Hyrule Castle and Crenel Hills. The Sepapa Shrine is on the island, so you can fast-travel directly to that Shrine of Light if you’ve completed it already.

Once you’re on the island, walk to its western edge. From there, walk to where the river begins to bend at the southwest. The exact coordinates for where to stand are 0110, 0852, 0033.

Jump from the edge and open your paraglider to begin floating down to the river. As you do, look at the island’s cliffside to find a small cave entrance. Drift into the cave and walk toward its center to find the chasm. Dive into the chasm to reach the previously inaccessible portion of the Depths.

Gloom Hands Warning: Use caution when exploring this island, as it is home to one of the spawning points for the Gloom Hands. (This spot is north of your destination, along the western edge of the island.) If the hands appear and you don’t wish to fight them, you will need to jump out over the river right away and paraglide south toward the cave.

The Apapes Lightroot is north of the chasm, directly beneath where the Sepapa Shrine is on the surface. As you make your descent, however, you’ll see that there is a Blue-White Frox waiting for you at the bottom. You do not need to defeat it to reach the lightroot though, so you can either keep gliding to avoid it or drop down to defeat it. Whatever option you choose, all you have left to do is make your way to the lightroot and activate it.
