Tears of the Kingdom: How to complete the ‘An Eerie Voice’ side adventure

by on July 31, 2023

An Eerie Voice is one of the 12 side adventures of the Lucky Clover Gazette quest line, “Potential Princess Sightings!” As the name suggests, “Potential Princess Sightings” has you look for clues on the missing Princess Zelda’s whereabouts.

To begin the quest, travel to the Highland Stable located in the deep south of Hyrule, Faron Grasslands. You can find it at the point where Haran Lake and Fural Plain meet. The coordinates of the stable are 1056, 1130, 0022.

The Stable is very secluded compared to the rest of Hyrule, so before you track Penn down, make sure to activate the Utsushok Shrine, which is just to the northeast.

There are two requirements that you will need to meet in order to complete this quest:

  • Traysi must have already recruited you when you arrived at the Lucky Clover Gazette headquarters at (what used to be) Rito Stable.
  • You can talk to Penn at any time to start the quest, but to continue it and locate the voice, you must speak with him at nighttime.

When you arrive at Highland Stable you can find your partner, Penn, standing by the trio of trees by the Stable fencing. Penn informs you that word has been circulating around the area about the mysterious voice of a lady calling out in the dead of night. Supposedly, she’s calling for those nearby to surrender their weapons and throw them into the local well lest she kills them.

The creepy voice, which according to Penn sounds suspiciously like Princess Zelda, sounds like it’s coming from Fural Plain in the northwest of the area. The Rito reporter thinks it’s best that you both team up for this side adventure and tells you that you should start your investigation after dark.

How to complete “An Eerie Voice

To complete the quest, you will need to wait until night falls before you meet Penn. If you’re at the Stable much too early, you can either wait by the cooking pot, take a nap at the stable and wait, or carry on playing until it gets dark and then return.

Once darkness falls, re-approach Penn and tell him it’s time to go. He will fast-track you over to Fural Plain.

You will see a marker on your map pointing out here Penn has swooped down a few yards ahead of where you are dropped. Run toward his location.

Before you reach him, you will hear the ominous sound of someone chanting. Penn, unsurprisingly, will panic about the source of the noise and seize up, so it’s left to you to step in and solve the mystery.

All you need to do here is head in the direction that you and Penn are facing to follow the voice. If you need a more precise pointer, head toward the middle of the two trees ahead of you.

The further you walk, the clearer the voice becomes and eventually, you will approach the Haran Lakefront Well and the mysterious vocalist will sing:

“Leave the arms, leave the arms….

For if not, I’ll do you harm.”

The sound is coming from the inside of the well. Jump in and glide to the bottom. At the bottom you will find a woman named Sagessa singing, which is less foreboding now that her voice isn’t echoing. When you approach her, she stops singing and asks you why you’re here.

You explain that you’re a reporter with the Lucky Clover Gazette and heard through the grapevine of a woman calling out in the darkness of the night. You repeat her lyrics back to her, and Sagessa will start to laugh and clarifies her lyrics for you:

“ Seek the storm, seek the storm…

Fear it not, you will stay warm.”

It turns out that she was singing a folk song about a cute storm-chasing fox and goes on to explain that she likes the acoustics that her voice has deep down in the well and didn’t think she was doing any harm. she starts to realize, however, that this was why people were throwing weapons into the well. When Sagessa finishes speaking, you are interrupted by Penn arriving on the surface above the wishing well.

Back on the surface, Penn will be grateful that you have solved the mystery and give you your payment. This marks the closure of another of the Potential Princess Sightings side adventure!

Side note: Before you leave the area, you can claim any or all of the weapons Sagessa had collected. This is a good chance for you to stock up on weapons.
