The Genshin Impact 1.3 update has been a hot topic of discussion lately, and with good reason. Not only are we getting controller support for iOS devices for the game and going to experience the elusive Lantern Rite festival, but the recent “All That Glitters” trailer that was released last week centers around the new Vigilant Yaksha playable character, Xaio.
Xiao is the first five-star Anemo-element polearm user, impressing us with his fighting style that features his elemental burst ability (which seems to involve donning a sinister mask and unleashing wide area-of-effect attacks).
The trailer, released as part of the Developers’ announcement, also teases us with previews for the main “All That Glitters” story quest, focused around the Lantern Rite festival held in Liyue Harbor and its activities: “Lantern Rite Tales,” the “Theater Mechanicus” (which appear to be a set of puzzle-like areas), and “Xiao Market.”
Unconnected to the Lantern Rite, activities include the “Five Flushes of Fortune” (which shows off a photography mechanic), and “Vishaps and Where to Find Them” that challenges players to hunt down unusual Vishaps.
Players with characters in need of leveling up will appreciate the boost rewards of experience items from Leyline blossom challenges in “Ley Line Overflow.” An additional promotion called “Stand By Me” implies players will be able to take their pick of a number of four-star, Liyue-based characters. Among them, Xiangling, Xinyan, Beidou, Ningguang, Xingqiu, and Chongyun are shown in the list.
The Genshin Impact 1.3 update will go live on February 3, 2021. The game is currently free-to-play on the iOS App Store, Google Play for Android, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for the PS5 and Switch.
