Just when you thought we were done, Zelda Universe has one more round of Age of Calamity interviews to put a smile on your face. Alex Trevino had the opportunity to talk with Jacob Craner, the voice of Robbie, and Jon Lipow, the voice of Astor, who we now know is the man behind the mysterious cloaked figure. Nice work, Alex!
Jacob shared with us a little bit about himself and what it was like to find Robbie’s voice. He has voiced previous roles in commercials, animations, and games like Star Fox: Zero and Assasin’s Creed: Syndicate. Jacob also revealed what the sense of humor and mindset would be for Robbie, and what kind of weapon the eccentric scientist might grab if he had to use one. There are no spoilers to worry about in this interview, but you may get surprised with a celebrity improv of someone famous!
Alex also had an awesome time interviewing Jon Lipow, who has more than two decades of voice acting under his belt. Jon worked with blockbuster companies such as Disney, Paramount, Universal, NBC, and many more to bring characters in games, commercials, and the big screen to life. His specialty is usually villains, so being the voice of Astor was a natural fit. Alex and Jon talked about what it was like for him to be the first-ever voiced canon Zelda villain in history and how it feels to now be part of the Zelda world. Jon answered all kinds of questions from the Zelda community, such as his favorite food, his favorite scene with Astor, and whether Astor or Zant would win in a fight. You definitely don’t want to miss this interview!
Word to the wise, fellow fans, Jon’s interview is loaded with major Age of Calamity spoilers! Finishing the game before watching is strongly recommended, unless this sort of thing doesn’t bother you. Ye be warned.
