Yuga’s Art Gallery: Legend of Abbey Road

When you think about it, this blend of the Links and the Beatles makes sense. Both were groups of musicians whose songs seemed almost magical, they both became incredibly famous across the world, and all the guys wanted to be them and all the girls wanted to be with them. The only difference is, could the Beatles have defeated a giant pig demon? Is that a discussion I don’t want to accidentally create?

“Legend of Zelda Abbey Road” is a piece of Zelda fan art inspired by the cover art for the Beatles’ eleventh album, “Abbey Road,” and what’s great about this piece is that it is not meant to great. It goes down a different and equal (or possibly superior) path: This art is fun.

Is there anything wrong with having a little fun? This example by artist thenerd616 proves that there isn’t. Someone commissioned thenerd616 to make an idea come to life. The artist realized the idea’s potential, and now I have cool, new background for my computer. Who would have thought a splice of the Beatles and The Legend of Zelda would work? It’s one of those “Huh, why haven’t I ever thought of that?” moments. We all have them, but for some reason, not many of us share them.

“Legend of Abby Road” is a simple yet polished piece of digital art. It’s four well-drawn and cartoony Links from the Four Swords games, a logo, some appropriately colored crosswalk lines, and a solid black background. This art’s parallel to Abbey Road is obvious, but the background is also a nice touch by being an homage to the cover the Beatle’s “With the Beatles” album. The background didn’t need to be designed that way, but it was, and it worked. A final and fitting point for this entire commission being simple fun, well done.
