Ocarina of Time promotional VHS containing rare beta footage resurfaces

Recently, YouTube channel Hard4Games unveiled a rare promotional VHS tape (that’s pre-DVD, for all you youngins) that was created to promote Ocarina of Time before its 1998 release. The tape includes scenes we have seen and a few previously undiscovered beta elements that would eventually be implemented into later Zelda installments.

Provided, ripped, and translated by PSX Brasil, the tape was originally a Brazil-exclusive Blockbuster preorder bonus for Ocarina of Time that featured a roughly six-minute promotional video for the upcoming game. Some of the “new” beta footage includes Link receiving a music note when learning a song, the upended Triforce symbol in the Temple of Time, and Link calling Epona by using a reed (the latter of which became a feature in Twilight Princess).
