The charm of Link’s Awakening on the Game Boy can’t be denied. Its profound story and memorable characters aren’t hindered by the system’s limitations. But just as Link’s Awakening DX for the Game Boy Color was able to improve upon the original, the upcoming remake for Nintendo Switch has done much to modernize and bring to life this classic Zelda for new and old fans.
In the comparison videos below, GameXplain and Nintendo World Report pair the classic DX version with the Switch version. The visual differences are most obvious, with gameplay and localization improvements adding icing to the Koholint cake.
GameXplain’s video covers the game’s E3 demo, and NWR shows off the first dungeon, Tail Cave. If the beginning of the remake looks this good, we can’t wait to see what Grezzo has done for the rest of it when the game launches on September 20.
