Ocarina of Time fan-made online co-op in the works

Ocarina of Time

Ocarina of Time is the epicenter of some of our fondest Zelda memories, and it is still argued to be the best Zelda game of all time.

The evergreen N64 title, which is now over 20 years old, is currently being subjected to development by a group of fans who are planning to produce a fascinating online co-op version of the game.

No release window has been suggested as of yet, but the concept allows each player to play the entire game simultaneously and flawlessly with another player.

The synchronization of the game looks solid in the footage, and the ability to work side-by-side within close quarters of each other, or divide the entire game up to work as team could lead to some interesting gameplay experiences.

One player could be overcome by insanity as they steal the hat of the pond owner with a fishing rod in Lake Hylia, while the other could be in the Temple of Time wondering who laid down the fairly new-looking, lush red carpet. Seeing another Link run just by you is a quite an endorphin-inducing spectacle if you plan to stay within the same proximity though.

The project is still in development and the developers have promised to take the unrestricted time required in their quest for it to be the best experience for users. You can follow development over on the Hyrule Modding Development Blog, and the scrollforinitiative Twitch channel.
