It’s hard to believe that it has been nearly four years since the passing of beloved comedian, actor, and longtime Legend of Zelda fan Robin Williams. Recently, just after what would have been Williams’ 67th birthday, his daughter, Zelda Williams, took to her social media accounts to talk about loss, honoring her father’s memory, and more.
Speaking about how fans can honor her father’s memory for his birthday, the anniversary of his passing, or any other occasion, Zelda said that fans should volunteer at a local homeless shelter or make up some backpacks for homeless people with supplies. Williams had been renowned for his support of members of the homeless community, using his success to employ homeless workers on many productions in which he was involved.
In closing, Zelda said, “Mostly, try to spread some laughter and kindness around. And creatively swear a lot. Every time you do, somewhere out there in our vast weird universe, he’s giggling with you… or giving a particularly fat bumblebee its wings.”
So if you’re hoping to honor the memory of one of the most treasured talents now lost to us all, take time to enrich the lives of those less fortunate, or at the very least, spread some jubilation to those around you. As a particularly awe-inspiring man once said, “Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.”
