The Legend of Zelda isn’t the only thing celebrating its thirty-year anniversary right now! The artist duo behind the name Akira Himekawa — a name familiar to any fan of the Zelda manga — is celebrating thirty years of work today.
On this day in 1987, artists Ms. Honda-A and Ms. Nagano-S came together to become Akira Himekawa. They would go on to write and illustrate several works including many of the aforementioned Zelda adaptations. In celebration of this milestone, Akira Himekawa posted a piece of art based on “Hiuri”, their first work.
Recently, the third Legendary Edition of Akira Himekawa’s Zelda manga and the first volume of their Twilight Princess adaptation released in the West, with more of both to follow in the coming year. Today would be the perfect day to show these artists some support by picking up a manga or two!
