Miyamoto unveils Link’s surname in fun quick fire interview

As part of their mammoth month of Breath of the Wild coverage, Game Informer have released a quick fire video interview with Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma.

The four minute interview manages to cram in 51 questions, on a whole variety of topics, including whether or not Link wears his classic green in the game, whether or not Mario’s original squeeze Pauline lives in New Donk City, and if it’s possible to eat a cake with a JoyCon in each hand. Miyamoto answers the latter question by miming shovelling cake into his mouth using the controllers. HD rumble, motion controls, and now cutlery functionality. Those little things really can do it all.

In another stand out moment, Miyamoto says Link’s surname is the same as Mario’s. He means it’s Link Link, not Link Mario, just in case you were now trying to factor some Italian heritage into Link’s ancestry. We’ll leave it up to you lot to decide whether or not this new information can be considered canon!

Game Informer also got a cheeky request in for a new 2D Metroid game. Fingers crossed Miyamoto and Aonuma take the instructions back to Japan and put it into motion immediately.

Check out the hilarity below.
