Curled up in bed with my stuffed Link and Pokémon plushies by my side, my eyes dart back and forth as I go up against Dark Link in the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time. He proves to be a persistent foe, but soon I find myself defeating him as I feel a rush of relief. I spent the next couple of hours completely immersed in the Zelda universe once again, feeling a sense of pride whenever I would defeat a boss or complete a temple. Gold Skulltulas had sparked the inner completionist in me, and I found myself wandering through the game searching for the sound that they made to ensure that I collected every single one.
When I look back on it, I have so many fond memories of playing various Zelda titles such as Skyward Sword, Majora’s Mask, A Link to the Past, Twilight Princess, and A Link Between Worlds. Zelda truly was the catalyst for my love of Nintendo games, right along with the Pokémon series and Animal Crossing. Nintendo feels like a strong aspect of my childhood that has always inspired me to continue gaming throughout my life. Not only are Zelda games close to my heart, but their nostalgic atmosphere makes me feel right at home whenever I power up my Nintendo 3DS. Revisiting older games that I have already completed feels almost like returning to an old friend after a long period of time. The sound of Zelda’s Lullaby playing from my device underneath the graphics on the screen is comforting in ways that I can’t even fully explain.
Zelda has made me fall in love with gaming, and to this day it’s become a huge part of my life.
Through video games, I have not only found excitement and love, but I have also discovered so many wonderful people who share the same passions as me. Their passion and enthusiasm inspires my own creativity, and influences my voice work and songwriting. The sense of community from this website alone has given me the confidence to be able to explore an even wider variety of games and gain more knowledge about the games that I have grown to adore over the years. So thank you, Zelda, for being the series that I will always consider my home.
