Mike Hoye took the idea of seeing a female heroine in a Zelda game to the next level. Playing The Wind Waker alongside his daughter, Maya, Mike would read the dialogue to her, switching the masculine pronouns to match his daughter’s gender. Soon getting tired of this, Mike used his programming knowledge and the Dolphin emulator to write a script that changed all of the male pronouns in the game to their female counterparts. You can read a detailed description on Mike’s blog. Mike explains:

“…I’m not having my daughter growing up thinking girls don’t get to be the hero and rescue their little brothers.”

Do you support Mike’s efforts? Would you like to ever see a female hero in a Zelda title or deeper character customization other than just choosing your character’s name?
