The folks over at Nintendo 3DS Blog received an anonymous tip a few days ago about the games included in the 3DS Ambassador Program, which gave a full list of what games you’ll receive as part of the program. This list happened to include 3 Zelda games:

  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II
  • Minish Cap

For those of you that don’t know, the Ambassador Program will give 20 free retro games to anyone who visited the Nintendo eShop before August 11th (so if you haven’t done that, sorry, you can’t get these games for free like the ambassadors). You’ll get 10 games on September 1st, and The Legend of Zelda is already a guaranteed title for this set. The other 10 will come some time before 2012, there’s no definite date yet.

WARNING: This is just a rumor, do not take it as fact just yet!

Hit the jump for the list of games!

The games are as follows:

NES (First set)

  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Balloon Fight
  • Ice Climber
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Metroid
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Kid Icarus
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
  • Kirby’s Adventure

GBA (Second set)

  • Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3
  • Mario Kart: Super Circuit
  • Metroid Fusion
  • WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong
  • Pokemon Emerald
  • The Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap
  • Kirby And The Amazing Mirror
  • Super Mario Ball
  • WarioWare Twisted (Up To Date 3DS Motion Controls)

There are a few inconsistancies with this list, for instance:

  • It was strongly hinted that Super Mario Bros. 3 would be on the list, but it’s not there.
  • lack of wireless functionality does have a pretty big impact on Pokemon Emerald.
  • Minish Cap and Pokemon Emerald for free seem too good to be true.
  • A public release for all the NES titles within a single day seems odd.
  • And 3 Zelda titles? Seems a bit much, eh?
What do you think? Will we get all of these titles, along with our three Zelda ones? Tell us in the comments!

Any idea on how much SD card space all of this will take?

    • keiferm

Less than 10 MB for the NES games.

No more than at 200 for GBA.

  • person

    I hope so

  • Jared

I REALLY hope this is true

  • rentorar

I really hope this is true. looks like we’re going to find out on September. although Nintendo did say a zelda game will be released, not sure about the the three titles.

  • America

It’d make sense for there to be at LEAST ONE Zelda game, but until I see Nintendo give out a list, I’m taking ANY game lists for this with a grain of salt.

  • Anomonous

Guess i dont need a ds lite anymore for pokemon emerald 🙂 . I wonder how they will do transfering pokemon now >.>

    • Russet

I have huge doubts about Emerald being there, and they probably won't have the transfer working.
Anyway, if there are RSE remakes this gen, then Emerald's more of a teaser to people who jumped in later than G3 than anything else.

      • Anomonous

        Yeah your probably right.

  • Cryxok

the only odd thing is the pokemon Emerald and the lack of Mario 3; 3 Zeldas in the year of the 25th anniversary? could be…2 metroids on the 25th anniversary of metroid? i really hope so…

  • Fabian

I don't think 3 Zelda games is a bit much when there's 6 games listed with Mario in the title, and that's not even all of the ones he's featured in.

    • herooftwili

yea zelda should get atlease 3 theres to many mario games

  • bjc72

The only thing that seems suspicious on this list is probably Pokemon Emerald. It just seems a little fishy considering a lack of mulitplayer support. Pretty much everything else on this list checks out for me. I do believe that SMB2 was really supposed to be SMB3. Minish Cap for free isn't too good to be true. They already said they have no plans to release GBA games on VC at this time, and they are not making money of off Minish Cap in any other way, so Nintendo has nothing to lose. A public release of the rest of the titles in a day doesn't seem odd at all to be honest, and Zelda is one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, 3 games is definitely not too much.

  • ForestTempleglitch

Are we getting all the zelda games for the NES AND GBA FOR FREE?!
    2 Zeldas for NES-FREE
    Minish Cap for GBA-FREE
4 Swords coming in September for GBA-FREE
Thank God I bought my 3DS.

  • Nintendbob

You are all aware that Nintendo did publicly release 10 of the games and the original legend of zelda was on there right? Because it seems like everyone is saying its not confirmed but it is.

  • link2778

that would be great i'd get to play my fave 2d zelda (that ive played) again minish cap

  • reptillianman

The three Zelda games doesn't seem so far fetched when you consider the fact that it's the 25th anniversary

  • Keimori

I'll take rthis with a grain of salt, but if its true, GREAT! if not, then its still good considering the titles nintendo has already confirmed is lovely, so the what the oficial list is, i'll be happy.

Oh how glad I would be if this was true…

    • ???

      Confirmed Legend of Zelda.

  • Tsubasa_zero

i hope minish cap isn't ture, I just bought that one again.

  • Frances

I doubt that Minish Cap will be included in the GBA lineup. From what I understand, the GBA games are exclusively for the Ambassadors and Nintendo does not intend to release those games in the future. There's a high probability that MC will be available for purchase on the eShop, so the chances of getting it exclusively and for free are slim.

  • #1 Zelda Game Lover

Thumbs up if you want all these games to be free!

    • Oblitatatortot

Oh god, don't turn this into Youtube.

  • Baker1000

Well I know LoZ is fact, so we're getting at least one Zelda title. The one I hope isn't true is Super Mario Ball.

  • Sakume

This list sounds awesome if it's true. Can't wait to get my free games YES.

  • ???

Um, they already confirmed The Legend of Zelda…

    • Invader_Zim

but not zelda 2 or minish cap.

  • OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WANT MINISH CAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And yeah they already confirmed the original Legend of Zelda. So Minish Cap probably won't be on it 🙁

  • Kyubimaru Yakushi

    I hope this is true.

  • Lilly

I hope Minish Cap will really be included! It was the first Zelda game I ever played 🙂

  • Carty

I really hope theres emerald.. its a little fishy. like they could have no communication or like they re-write it so that part is wireless. like changes over to the ds trading screens and such, but keep graphics intouch. I already have all the zelda games though, but the first two will be nice in a protible form i can get.

  • Guest

Why not a Fire Emblem, Nintendo! Come on!

  • Three Zelda games on the same system? 😀 Works for me.

I'd also like to try the Metroid, Pokemon, and Kirby games.

Thareous, come back to Zelda Dungeon!

  • Adam

Legend of Zelda is confirmed, I got the notification a while ago, it starts September 1st. We are guarunteed 20 games (10 NES/10 GBA) By the end of the year!

  • Hime

Reading this, I'm now really pissed. I got the 3DS a long while ago and was looking forward to this, but my jerk of a brother took the damn thing with him on a trip, and I wasn't able to make the update on time.

  • Hans Bocock
