Dawn of Shadows

Part 11: Kai Mitton

Link made his way into the Spirit temple.

“This place sure does bring back memories”, thought Link. In fact, this was his third time in the Spirit temple. As he walked up the stairs, he saw two statues up ahead. He quickly stopped. Link remembered that one of the statues was alive, and would attack him if he got to close. Link carefully snuck by them.

“Now”, he said to himself, “where will I find the Blade of Light?”

Meanwhile, at Hyrule castle, Malon and Zelda had just finished a long talk. Zelda had explained everything.

“You must leave imeadiently”, she said.

“It’s to late for that”, said a familiar voice. They spun around. There, with an evil smirk on his face, was Dark Heart. Malon shot a bullet from her slingshot at him. He grabbed it and flicked it away.

“Now”, he said, “let’s talk about you’re punisment!”

In the Spirit temple, Link was getting frustrated.

“I’ve searched every nook and cranney, but I’ve found nothing”, he thought miserably. “So, where is i-“ Sudenley, the floor collapsed beneath him. Link screamed as he fell into blackness. When he woke up, he was tied to a chair and surrounded by a group of people. When he tried to talk, Link realized he was gaged.

“He’s awake”, said one of them.

“Not yet”, said another. Link was then knocked out.

Far away, a young girl, a Goron, a Zora, a Gerudo, a Sheikah and a Hylian marched towards Hyrule castle. And watching them was none other than Kaepora Gaebora.

“Interesting”, he mumbled. “Very interesting.”

Meanwhile, Malon was being tossed into the dungeon. Everything, even the LonLon milk, had been confinscated. She watched one of the guards drink it all. She even overheard them saying that her execution would be the next day. She stayed up all night waiting for Link to come rescue her. He never came. And the next day, she was dragged out into the market and was prepared to be hanged. Suddenly, a dagger came out of no where and wounded the guard who was about to kill Malon. Then, a Goron burst out of a building and tackled five guards at once. A Zora secured the drawbridge and a Gerudo stopped any guards from reaching the castle. In a puff of smoke, Malon was cut down and was standing next to a tall, muscular woman.

“My name is Impa”, she said with a smile. “Me and my friends are here to rescue you.”

At that moment, so far away, Link woke up again. This time he was in a nice bed. Link reconised the place.

“Lon Lon ranch”, he muttered. Just then, Talon came in. He was releaved to see Link awake. He then explained how he found Link, with all his tools at the entrance to the ranch.

“Where is Malon”, asked Link.

“I don’t know”, said Talon. “After she left to Hyrule castle, she didn’t return. I’m really worried about her.” At that moment, Link felt great anger towards his twin. Link imeadiently jumped out of bed, grabbed his things, ran to the stables, took the strongest horse he could find and rode to Hyrule castle. When he got there, everything was a disaster. The guards where so busy helping the wounded, no one noticed Link. Sudenly, he felt a piercing pain in his arm. The light on his arm was twice as big. He dismounted from the horse and looked at the sky.

“How do I find the Blade of Light”, he asked the goddesses.

“Looking for this”, asked a strangely familiar voice. Link spun around and came face to face with Rauru, the sage of light. In his hand was the Blade of Light. Link greatfully took the sword. The moment he touched the handle, the light on his arm dimmed.

“How can I ever repay you”, asked Link.

“You do not have to”, said Rauru. “Now, listen closely. I have much to tell you.” And so, Link learned of Dark Hearts plans, of how the sages had returned to physical form and how Malon was rescued.

“And now”, continued Rauru, “we have gathered your items and taken them to Kakariko village. You must go there to rest and make a strategy to defeat Dark Heart.”

“All right”, said Link. After returning the horse and informing Talon about Malon, Link and Rauru left to Kakariko village.
