I’ve got a bit of sad news to share. Dampe’, the main man behind the more active and ambitious of the two OOT2D project, has reportedly died in a fatal car accident at the age of 15…
News spread through the OOT2D community yesterday at 4 PM. One of the administrators of the OOT2D forums, Revenant, received a call at that time telling him the sad news. Dampe’ was walking home when he was hit by a car that had swerved out of control on the wet pavement.
Considering the circumstances, the OOT2D project has effectively been canceled after it has been worked on for so many years and so much effort had been put into it. The project was created with the hopes of eventually remaking all of Ocarina of Time in a new 2D platform, and the videos that had been released to the public were looking amazing. Check out a video of this amazing former project here.
The project was being coded by hand in Game Maker and was being done just for the fun of it and entirely not-for-profit.
Our sincerest condolences go out to his family, friends, and the OOT2D community at this time.
Rest in peace, Richard. You’ll be sorely missed.
