Chapter 23 – Triforce Shard 8: Overlook Island
Note: In The Wind Waker HD the Triforce Shard is found on Overlook Island. In the original game you will have to get a Triforce Chart deciphered and fish it up from the ocean floor near Cyclops Reef.
You will need the Hookshot in order to get this Triforce Shard. Sail to Overlook Island, one square northeast of Dragon Roost Island.
At one end of the island is a slightly lower pinnacle. Get close while in the boat and take out the Hookshot. Aim for the tree and pull yourself onto the ledge when the waves lift you high enough.
Move along the top of the towers using the Hookshot. Toward the end you will find a hole in the ground.
Go through the first door to find a large circular room. The door opposite is barred, but four more rooms are accessible. Enter each room and defeat the enemies inside. It’s essentially the same as Stone Watcher Island, but the enemies are more dangerous.
- Bottom right – Green Bokoblins
- Top right – Yellow-hooded Wizzrobes
- Top left – Stalfos
- Bottom left – Armos Knights
When you return to the central chamber after clearing every room, four Darknuts will be waiting for you. Defeat them to unlock the door where the treasure is held. Use the Darknuts’ swords to destroy the pillars, as quite a few Rupees can be found this way.
Play the Wind’s Requiem on the wind mosaic in the final room to reveal a Treasure Chest. In The Wind Waker HD this will contain the Triforce Shard itself. In The Wind Waker this will contain a Triforce Chart.
Take the Triforce Chart to Tingle Island to get it deciphered for 398 Rupees (see chapter 16 for more information). Cyclops Reef is another island that you may not recognise. It is one square south of Southern Fairy Island, one square east of Headstone Island and two squares east of Outset Island. It is also the location of a Great Fairy (see Upgrades for more information).
