Chapter 16: Triforce Shard 1: Islet of Steel
Note: This Triforce Shard is in the same location in The Wind Waker and The Wind Waker HD
Sail to the Islet of Steel, one square south of Greatfish Isle. Approach the fortress from the south. Destroy the Warship guarding the entrance, plus any others that cross your path. Watch out for the Kargaroc roosting on top of the fortress. Magic Armor might come in handy (see the Trading Sequence).
Sail inside the fortress. Stand on the wind mosaic and play the Wind’s Requiem. The Treasure Chest containing the Triforce Chart will appear.
There are a lot of Rupees in the jars on the left and right. Getting all of the treasure will help to cover the cost of deciphering the Triforce Chart.
To get the Triforce Chart deciphered you must first free Tingle from the jail on Windfall Island. Enter the building near the gravestone and stand on the switch hidden behind some barrels. He will relocate to Tingle Island, between Greatfish Isle and Windfall Island.
Talk to Tingle on his island and he will offer to decipher any Triforce Charts that you have. You will have to pay him 398 Rupees per chart. Upgrading your wallet capacity from 200 to 1000 Rupees is essential. Raising your wallet capacity to 5000 Rupees is highly recommended. The chart that Tingle gave you shows the locations of the Great Fairies that confer these upgrades.
Once the Triforce Chart has been deciphered, it functions like a normal Treasure Chart. The first one shows that a Triforce Shard is hidden beneath the waves around Greatfish Isle.
