Kyononis Shrine: ‘Combat Training’

by on June 12, 2023

The Kyononis Shrine of Light is one of the early shrines in the game that teaches you how to fight against an opponent. It is located at the center of Hyrule Castle Town Ruins, slightly north of Lookout Landing

The coordinates of the shrine are -0210, 0454, 0021.

Combat Training

This shrine serves as a tutorial for Link’s combat skills and a refresher on the game’s controls. It is a simple shrine if you are already familiar with Breath of the Wild‘s controls.

When you enter the shrine, you will find a Construct waiting for you in the main chamber. As you approach it, it will wake up and transform. You will then receive instructions from Rauru to perform some perfect dodges.

Rauru will first tell you to lock onto the Construct and perform a side step and strike. When you do it correctly, you will avoid the attack and this gives you the chance to perform a flurry attack.

After the Construct recovers, Rauru will tell you to do a backflip. Much like the last step, lock onto the Construct and backflip away to narrowly dodge its attack which will then allow you a chance to perform a second flurry attack.

This time, you won’t need to perform a perfect dodge, but instead, a perfect guard against the Construct’s attack. Hold up your shield and press the attack button when the Construct attacks you, allowing you to parry against it and break its stance if timed right.

Finally, while the Constructs stance is broken you’ll be required to perform a charged attack to finish it off, and once dispatched It will drop a Rusty Broadsword, a Construct Bow, and a Zonai Charge for you to take.

Proceed to the Shrine room where you will find a chest containing a Zonaite Sword and then walk up and talk to Rauru and collect your Light Orb to complete the Kyononis Shrine.
