Lookout Landing, meeting Purah, and obtaining the Paraglider

by on May 17, 2023

Once you reach Hyrule’s surface, head northwest toward the location marked on your map. As you travel, you’ll observe various ruins and enemies in the large, open field. You can explore as you wish, but you might want to avoid the stronger-looking enemies for now.

Eventually, you’ll arrive at the place marked on your map: Lookout Landing. This landing is a settlement established by the scientist Purah to help research the gloom. A soldier at the entrance will tell you that Purah wishes to see you and that you should visit the building with the telescope to find her.

When you are ready, head to the building he mentioned. Climb the stairs to the left to reach an observation platform, and approach the Sheikah girl standing by the window. This will prompt a cutscene to play, which introduces you to Purah.

After Link recaps what happened to Zelda and him, Purah asks you to meet with Captain Hoz, who is leading a search party for Princess Zelda. Head toward the castle

Hyrule Castle and Captain Hoz

Start by hiking straight toward the castle and passing through the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins. There is a sloped path on the other end of town leading to the castle’s main entrance. When you reach the entrance, use Ultrahand to open the doors. Continue following the path up and to the left.

Scale this outer path of Hyrule Castle to reach the gatehouse. (There are many optional areas to explore within this remaining part of the castle, but be aware that many powerful enemies dwell within them.) Climb to the second floor of the gatehouse to find and speak with Captain Hoz.

Once Link and he finished speaking, a soldier will spot Zelda in the distance. Zelda will then levitate into the air before disappearing, mystifying everyone who saw. With nothing else that can be done about the situation, the captain asks you to report what happened to Purah.

Updating Purah and Visiting the Emergency Shelter

Return to Purah so Link can explain the situation to her. Once they are done talking, Purah will tell you the main goal, for now, should be to investigate a number of the strange occurrences that have been reported in four of Hyrule’s major locations. But before you can do that, you need a map of Lookout Landing and the surrounding area. To get the map, you must meet Purah again at the Skyview Tower within Lookout Landing.

Before meeting Purah at the tower, she’ll suggest you speak with Scorpis to find the Emergency Shelter. You can locate Scorpis in the middle of Lookout Landing. When you speak with him, he will open the way to the shelter, which is an underground bunker directly beneath where you are standing.

The Emergency Shelter is a place to find resources, information, and other aid for your quest. You’ll also find a Goddess Statue down here. When you’re done exploring the shelter, return to the surface and go to the Skyview Tower to meet with Purah again.

Activating the Skyview Tower

Here, Purah explains what the Skyview Tower is and its purpose. It will allow her and her team to survey the region of Hyrule to create an accurate map. The only issue is that she needs your help to accurately scan the area to create the map. To help you with this, Purah gives you a Paraglider and asks you to activate the tower.

One amusing cutscene later, Link is propelled skyward so he can record the layout of the region. You will resume control as he falls, allowing you to practice with the Paraglider.

When you land on the ground and speak with Purah again, she will suggest that you should also meet with the members of the Lucky Clover Gazette, Hyrule’s new publication, to see if you can help each other. The gazette headquarters are found northwest in the Hebra region near the Rito Village. You can visit any of the main locations Purah told you about in any order, but it’s a good idea to start by heading for the one in the Hebra Region.
