The Sky
Break the Lumpy Pumpkin Chandelier
Upon entering the Lumpy Pumpkin at Pumpkin Landing (southeast in the Sky), you will find out that the owner of the restaurant is very proud of his crystal chandelier that hangs above his customers. If you look up to the chandelier, you will see that there is . . . oh look, a Piece of Heart, sitting right there for the taking! As you head up to the second floor, you’ll see that there have been signs placed telling the customers not to bump into anything on account of the safety of the chandelier. When you’re on the balcony of the second floor, roll into the railing facing out towards the restaurant’s entrance a few times and the chandelier will eventually come crashing to the ground. Now you can grab the Piece of Heart that was up there (Pumm will also be very upset that you broke his chandelier – he will make you work the debt of the expensive item off, which will actually get us another Piece of Heart later on).
Perform with Kina
After completing the first two jobs at the Lumpy Pumpkin, speak to Pumm and he’ll have a third task for you, but you’re going to have to sleep in the bed until night to do it. Find the bed in the backroom and sleep in there until night. When you talk to him again, he will ask you to play your harp with his daughter, Kina, who often sings to entertain the night customers. When you complete this mini-game, you will receive a Piece of Heart.
Fun Fun Island perfect score
To win the Piece of Heart, you have to dive through the air after being shot out of a cannon and glide through all the rings as you’re falling while avoiding the Dodoh Balls. Landing on the multicolored spot and having it multiply your points from the rings will nail you 50 Rupees as well as a Piece of Heart.
Skyloft
Collect 20 Gratitude Crystals
When you’ve collected 20 Gratitude Crystals from completing sidequests for Batreaux, you can speak to him to get a Piece of Heart as a reward.
A piece of Beedle’s heart
This Piece of Heart is available to purchase from Beedle’s Airshop after you have purchased all of the other health-related items in the shop. You will find this Piece of Heart on sale for 1600 Rupees (which means you’ll have to have a considerably large wallet to get the money). However, if you can complete the Beedle’s Missing Beetle Gratitude Crystal sidequest, he will cut the item’s price in half, lowering it to 800 Rupees – this may be the smarter idea to save yourself all the hunting for Rupees.
A piece of Zelda’s heart
Sleep in a bed to make it nighttime in Skyloft, and then head to the Knight’s Academy. Make your way along the south side until you reach the vines that lead to the top of the building. You’ll find a chimney-like structure that has a target inside, so latch yourself onto it and drop down to reach a passage that leads to Zelda’s room. You will find both a Gratitude Crystal on the floor as well as the Piece of Heart in her cabinet.
Archery mastery
When you’ve helped Fledge out by giving him Stamina Potions, he will make a new mini-game for you to play at the Sparring Hall. The objective is to hit the pumpkins he launches into the air with your arrows. If you hit a lot of them together, you will create a combo, which will reward you with 50 additional points per combo shot. You will be rewarded a Piece of Heart if you can score a total of 600 points.
Sealed Grounds
Goddess Wall research
After fighting The Imprisoned, Head to the northeast of the Sealed Grounds where Gorko is usually hanging around here and he will tell you about the Blessed Butterflies and the special “walls”. Head over to the Blessed Butterflies and strum a note on your harp to make a wall appear. When you speak to Gorko again, he will ask you to draw a specific item. Correctly draw the one he wants you to draw and he will reward you with a Piece of Heart for aiding his research. (Don’t worry if you mess up the design – you can simply visit again later when the Goddess Wall has refreshed itself).
Faron Woods
Tightrope in the forest
When you’re heading through Faron Woods, you’ll soon come across a spot where there is a natural bridge that makes an “m” shape. Climb up the ramp part of this and head to the far left towards the tree to find a platform that extends out that’s holding the Piece of Heart. Cross the tightrope to reach the Piece of Heart.
A hidden cave
Head back to Faron Woods and use your new Bomb Bag to blow up the cracked wall here to reveal a cave as well as the seventh Piece of Heart.
Deep Woods
Skyview Temple
While you’re in the Skyview Temple (after you’ve defeated the mini-boss and collected the Beetle) run to the backside of the bird statue that’s in the room where you acquired the Beetle, and then face towards the statue. There is a Piece of Heart here that’s closed behind bars. Send the Beetle up to the top of the room and look for the opening in the statue’s backside. Hit the crystal switch in this little spot and the cage will open, giving you access to the Piece of Heart.
Eldin Volcano
Atop the cliffs
As you’re going through the Eldin region for the first time, you’ll find a bone bridge in the lava. Instead of crossing it, take a right turn and climb up the platforms until you reach some upper ledges that lead to the Piece of Heart.
Volcano Summit
Fire Sanctuary
When you’re nearing the end of the dungeon, you will encounter a Mogma underground who keeps pressing the switch to move the gate back into place after you’ve activated it. When you catch him, he will apologize to you and give you a Piece of Heart.
Digging for buried treasure
If you head to the section of the Volcano Summit that’s right outside the Fire Sanctuary entrance, you’ll find a soil spot along the wall in the southern part of the area that you can dig into. When you tunnel into it, crawl through to the other side and you’ll reach a treasure chest containing a Piece of Heart.
Lanayru Desert
A secret path
After your map has been updated by the Robot. Travel to the northeast corner of the map, you’ll find a narrow passage. One of the underground paths leads to the right end side of it, where you can jump down and head to the passage entrance that is covered with a cracked wall. Blow up the wall with a Bomb and head down this path until you reach the treasure chest that contains a Piece of Heart.
Lanayru Sand Sea
The Sandship
After receiving the Dungeon Map, you’ll find that there is an area to the far right side of the deck that you can’t reach – not to mention, there’s a chest up there. While you’re on the main deck, climb up the mast and use the pulleys until you reach the end of the path. The last one will take you to the eastern stern – if you look over, you’ll see that there is a Clawshot target on a beam off in the distance. Latch onto it and drop down to reach the treasure chest containing the Piece of Heart.
Mine cart mastery
If you head back to the Shipyard at any point after completing the Sandship, the Goron here will have a fun new mini-game available to play. If you can complete the Heart-Pounding course in under 65 seconds, you will win a Piece of Heart.
Lanayru Gorge
Thunder Dragon Lightning Round
Head to the Lanayru Gorge and speak to Lanayru the Lightning Dragon and he will have a challenging mini-game set up. In this mini-game, you will be able to fight all the bosses you previously fought in consecutive order, and you will have to see how many bosses you can defeat before you die. If you quit after defeating four consecutive bosses, Lanayru will reward you with a Piece of Heart.
