Bosses

Boss: Demon Lord Ghirahim Round 1

Fought In: Skyview Temple

Attacks:

  • Sword Block
  • Hand Slap – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Projectiles – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Sword Dash – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Sword Strike – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.

Weak Spots: Sword

The first phase of this battle can be tricky, but as long as you are quick it can  be done right. Ghirahim will walk around you with his hand up, which will be used to catch your sword if you strike at him. If he does catch your sword and you fail to break free of his grasp, he will take your sword and use it against you, and  you will have to use a quick shield bash to get it back. When his hand is raised, you will notice that he is following his sword’s direction.

To prevent him from grabbing the sword, wait for him to lock onto your sword’s movements, and then move it in any direction you like – you may have to get closer to him to pull this off. When he’s following your sword’s movement in one direction, slowly bring your sword (but not too slowly) to the other direction at slash at him, in the direction that’s opposite of his hand. You can’t move too quickly when youdo this, otherwise the Wii Remote will think you’re slashing, and the trick won’t work. It’s all about taking your time and breaking his guard. When you’ve struck him from the other side successfully, you’ll break his guard and be able to deliver a few good slashes at him again.

After a few tiems of doing this, Ghirahim will change his attack sequences and will begin to fire sharp projectiles at you. He will also have his own sword. These projectiles will always be in a straight line, so you can match the direction with your sword and slash them to knock them back at him. You can also run from them or use a shield bash.

Another new attack is a charge that will end in a sword slash. This can be tricky  to evade, so the best way to avoid it is to bash him with your shield when he’s close enough, which will stun him and leave him open for attacks.

After you’ve done more damage to him, Ghirahim will begin to teleport, and will appear behind Link to deliver a regular attack with his sword. Once he’s done with the teleportation trick, he will begin to guard with his sword, which means you will have to use the same directional fighting techniques you use when fighting a regular old monster that uses a weapon – deliver a sword slash from any other direction of his blocking to hit him. If you get weak from battling, there are pots along the sides of the room that contain hearts, so use those when you become really weak.

Boss: Pyroclastic Fiend Scaldera

Fought In: Earth Temple

Attacks:

  • Physical Contact – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Fire – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.

Weak Spots:

  • Sword
  •    Bombs

The first part of this battle has Scaldera running up the long ramp in this  room. He will run into one of the Bomb Flowers that are planted along the ramp, causing him to roll down to the bottom of the ramp. He will start to shoot fireballs from his mouth, so you will have to avoid these as much as you can.

Obviously, this boss fight isn’t as easy as watching Scaldera run into Bomb  Flowers and come up the ramp over and over again. Wait for him to get knocked down by the Bomb Flowers again, and then run after him. Once you’re close enough, he will open his mouth and inhale flames for a fireball attack, but we’re going to stop this by taking out a Bomb and throwing it into his mouth while it’s still open. This will send him to the ground and cause him to lose a part of his shell. It will also reveal his eye, which we can guess is his weak point. Slash your sword repeatedly at Scaldera’s eye.

Keep repeating this process. If you run low on Bombs, you can fill your bag  with the Bomb Flowers that are growing on the ramp. There are also recovery  hearts at the edges of the boss room.

After repeating this same process a few times, Scaldera will start to move  faster up the ramp and he will also walk on his legs. The same process is still  in effect, however you can run underneath Scaldera and when he comes rolling back down, just stay on one of the sides of him. His shell will also fall off more, giving his eye a lot more freedom to move around, so it will move much quicker and make it harder to get the sword attacks in. Once you’ve completely destroyed the outer shell of Scaldera, go in with a sword slash and deliver the finishing blow.

Boss: Thousand-Year Arachnid Moldarach

Fought In: Lanayru Mining Facility

Attacks:

  • Physical Contact – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Claw – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Tail – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Ram – Does 2 Hearts of damage on Link.

Weak Spots:

  • Sword

During the first phase of the battle, you will have to strike the weak points that are in Moldarach’s claws. You will have to use directional sword slashes to hit the weak points; Moldarach will often change the direction his claws are facing, so always make sure that you’re ready to change your position. When the weak points – or ‘eyes’ – turn red, it means that Moldarach is going to strike, so back away to avoid it. If Moldarach grabs you, you will have to shake the Wiimote to escape his grasp.

Keep hitting Moldarach’s weak points. Soon, his claws will fall off. When they do, a new eye will appear on his main body. All you have to do is perform a straight sword strike to hit it. When you do, he will dig himself into the sand. Quickly equip your Gust Bellows – you will have to use it to blow away the sand until you’ve revealed enough of Moldarach’s body and he comes back out from underneath the sand. When he does, hit him in the new weak spot a few more times and he will fall.

Boss: The Imprisoned Round 1

Fought In: Sealed Grounds

Attacks:

  • Foot Stomp – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.

Weak Spots:

  • Sword

The Imprisoned will start making his way up the winding path that leads to the  Sealed Temple. He has four big white toes on each foot, with three in front and one  in back. You will have to strike this toes with your sword to destroy them. The Imprisoned takes rather large steps that are quite easy to avoid. He will also release a red shock with each step that covers a certain amount of area around his feet, so watch out for that when he brings his foot down. Slash away at his toes until they’re all gone; once you’ve gotten rid of them, he will fall to the ground.

Quickly run to the front of the monster and strike the spike that’s embedded in his head. You have to strike it from below so that the spike cuts in deeper into the Imprisoned’s head.

You’ll have to deliver nine strikes to the spike in the Imprisoned’s head before it will be defeated, so you’ll have to do this process at least two more times. The Imprisoned will soon start to release a red charge each time it stomps its foot, so be weary of it and go in for a strike after it’s placed its foot. Once you’ve struck the spike enough times, you’ll have to perform the final sealing by using a Skyward Strike on the spike and doing a certain directional move that’s instructed onscreen. When you’ve finished this, the seal will have been restored . . . but only for a little while.

Boss: Ancient Automation Koloktos

Fought In: Ancient Cistern

Attacks:

  • Axe Slam – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Axe Swing – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.

Weak Spots:

  • Sword
  •    Whip

Koloktos has six massive arms, two of which he uses to swing double axe blades. When  he tosses these at you, they’ll come back like boomerangs, and are somewhat tricky to avoid, but as long as you keep your distance when he throws them and keep moving around, they shouldn’t hit you.

When Koloktos tries to hit you with one of his arms, move out of the way to avoid  it and then quickly pull out your Whip. Use it to grab the arm and then pull on it – this will cause the arm to separate from the main body of Koloktos. Keep doing this until you’ve pulled off four of his arms.

Once you’ve done so, you’ll see that there is a red item in the center of Koloktos’  body, which acts as his weak spot. Once you get the chance to, charge in and strike it as many times as you can with your sword. After you’ve done this several times, Koloktos will reattach his arms, and you’ll have to repeat this process again.

After you’ve repeated the process a few times, Koloktos will grow feet and will  equip six gigantic swords, one for each hand. He will now be able to chase you around the room and will strike you with three arms at a time. Dodge any attacks he throws at you and then quickly use your Whip again to pull the arms away. This will cause his swords to fall to the ground, so run over and grab the nearest one.

You can now use this sword to cut off the rest of Koloktos’ limbs. You can also  do damage on the cage that’s covering over Koloktos’ weak spot. Once you’ve broken this cage, start striking his weak spot with the sword. Once you’ve struck it a few good times, Koloktos will reattach his arms again.

There is one more phase to this battle, and it mainly consists of Koloktos walking around the room and swinging all his swords in a frenzy. Cursed Bokoblin will also appear, but you can take care of these easily – if you don’t choose to kill them, it’s easy to avoid them as well. Do the same process of pulling off Koloktos’ arms and getting one of the swords and then striking the weak spot until you’ve killed Koloktos.

Boss: Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus

Fought In: Lanayru Sand Sea

Attacks:

  • Tentacle Grab – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Tentacle Slam – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Snake Tentacles – Does half a heart of damage on Link.

Weak Spots:

  • Sword
  •    Bow

The moment you enter the boss room, giant tentacles will appear, breaking through  the structure of the ship. We definitely need to make our way back to the deck, however we’ll be blocked on the way back by tentacles breaking through the walls. Regular sword attacks won’t break them, but Skyward Strikes will, so use those to make your way through the corridors.

As you’re making your way back to the deck of the ship, you’ll notice that the ship is actually SINKING – however, we’re going to focus more on getting out of here and cutting away the tentacles. Along with that, barrels will start falling in your direction, but you can easily avoid these by moving out of the way. When you’ve reached the top, head through the door to properly take on the Sandship  boss, Tentalus.

The first part of this battle will involve Tentalus bringing tentacles to attack  you from underneath the ship. Take care of these with a Skyward Strike the same  as before – this time though, strike it with a horizontal motion so that the tentacles are properly cut off from Tentalus’ body. Keep cutting off tentacles as quickly and efficiently as you can. If a tentacle grabs you, you can break free by shaking the Wiimote.

After you’ve cut away a good number of tentacles, Tentalus will surface and strike  at you with its tentacles. Quickly load and arrow and shoot it towards Tentalus’ eye. When the arrow strikes him, he will come falling to the deck, giving you  the chance to strike him in the eye as much as you can before he regains himself.

You’ll have to keep repeating this process – be warned that it does get more difficult with each time you strike him in the eye with both the arrows and your sword. Tentacles will come up faster to attack you, and they will come in greater numbers. Just keep working away at the tentacles until you can get a chance to shoot Tentalus again with the arrows and then strike him in his weak spot a few more times with your sword.

After you’ve repeated this process a few times, Tentalus will start pounding the  ship, which will cause a large to fall down to the deck. Use the box to climb up and reach the other platform. Once you’ve done this, Tentalus will submerge himself underwater and then reappear on the other side of the ship.

This is the final phase of the battle, and as usual, Tentalus will send his  tentacles at you, only this time, the tentacles seem to be bearing teeth, and  they’ll be trying harder than ever to knock you off. You can use your sword to  strike them away if one of them tries to hit you. Once you have the chance, equip your bow and fire an arrow at Tentalus’ eye. Take this as your moment to deliver a strong finishing blow to Tentalus.

Boss: Demon Lord Ghirahim Round 2

Fought In: Fire Sanctuary

Attacks:

  • Sword Block
  • Projectiles – Does half a heart of damage on Link.
  • Sword Dash – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Sword Swing – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.

Weak Spots:

  • Sword

During the first phase of the battle, Ghirahim will walk around the room while using his sorcery to bring forth red diamonds, which he will use in both offensive and defensive manners. If there is a large amount of distance between you and Ghirahim, he will shoot the red diamonds out at you like bullets. If you’re trying to strike him while you’re in close, he will use the diamonds like a shield so you strike the diamonds instead of him.

It’s all about patience and precision for this battle. If the diamonds are  arranged in a horizontal manner – a line above and a line below – then you have  to strike in between with a horizontal strike to break his guard. If you miss, Ghirahim will grab your sword and you’ll have to try and break free. Keep your sword moving at all times – even if you’re not attacking – and wait for an opening where his hand isn’t so you can strike him. Again, it takes a bit of patience and quick, precise attacks to get anywhere in this battle, not to mention after you’ve struck him a few times he will summon even more diamonds to defend with, so it will get harder to strike him; again, it’s about patience and precision.

When you’ve managed to land a few good hits on him, Ghirahim will draw two swords and will make diamonds that will surround you. If the diamonds are overtop you, shake the WiiMote and Nunchuck forward to do a vertical spin attack and knock them away. If they are surrounding you in a circle formation, just do the opposite – perform a normal spin attack. When you get closer to Ghirahim, he will use his swords in the same manner as a Stalfos to protect himself, so you’ll have to match your swings to hit the areas of his body that aren’t being guarded. When you do manage to break his guard, follow up your attack with as many consecutive hits you can get in before he starts defending again.

After you’ve gotten more hits on him, Ghirahim will start to get quicker and more aggressive with his attacks. If you get anywhere near him, he will start swinging his swords around wildly. He will also start leaping into the air to try and pierce you with his swords from above. If he happens to jump, quickly run around this area so that he will miss you when he tries to land. Like before, strike him where his sword isn’t blocking and follow up with any attacks you land with more consecutive, aggressive attacks.

Ghirahim will also start to shoot more diamonds at you – this time in groups of  five – so you’ll have to adjust your attack to match the same direction that the diamonds are flying in so you can strike and deflect them. Just keep breaking Ghirahim’s guard and striking him until you’ve defeated him.

Boss: The Imprisoned Round 2

Fought In: Sealed Grounds

Attacks:

  • Foot Stomp – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.

Weak Spots:

  • Sword
  • Groosenator

The battle with the Imprisoned this time will be slightly different, as this time he  has grown massive arms. The first phase of this battle is pretty much the same as the last time we fought it – strike away at the monster’s big white toes until they’re all gone and he falls to the ground. This time when he takes a step, however, the impact of his feet will give off an electric charge, which can make it hard to get in close to attack. Now that the monster has his own set of arms, he will also try to climb up the walls of the area to get up to the temple faster. When Groose has prepared the Grooseanator, use the catapult to launch a Bomb towards the monster. This will keep him  from climbing up the walls if he’s already started climbing, and it will keep him at a safe distance for a while, so you’ll get a good chance to strike his toes.

After using the Grooseanator, it will take Groose a bit of time to set it up again, so  in the meantime you’re going to have to keep the Imprisoned away on your own. When the Grooseanator is prepared again, use it to launch another Bomb at the monster and create an opening for you to strike its toes and knock him to the ground. The Imprisoned’s arms will make it hard – pretty much impossible – for you to run around to strike the seal in his head, so you’ll have to quickly jump to the level of ground below and run ahead to when you’re roughly in front of the Imprisoned and then use one of the air geysers to get back up. Strike the seal in the monster’s head with three straight, uppercut sword strikes to knock the seal further into its head.

When you can deliver two sets of sword slashes to the Imprisoned’s head, he will fall onto his belly and start to slide up the path at a pretty fast speed, much faster than his walking speed. All you can do is follow it up with the geysers and repeat the same method again once it’s done sliding and has begun walking again. When you’ve delivered the third set of strikes on the Imprisoned’s head – a total of nine strikes – the Imprisoned will fall all the way back down to the bottom of the Sealed Grounds, so hurry down and deliver a Skyward Strike on the seal with the proper movements to seal away the monster again.

Boss: Ocular Parasite Bilocyte

Fought In: The Thunderhead

Attacks:

  • Green Blobs

Weak Spots:

  • Green Blobs (deflected)
  •    Sword

Jump onto your Loftwing and start to fly towards Levias. You’ll see that he has four  long tentacles flowing from his body, each one with an eyeball growing from the end of it. Carefully fly over and strike out one of the eyes with a Spiral Charge. Be weary of the other enemies that are flying around here as you take out the other eyes with Spiral Charges.

Once you have taken out all the eyes, fly over Levias and jump off your Loftwing so that you land on Levias’ back. When you’ve safely landed, you will begin a second part to this battle where you take on the real enemy – Bylocyte. When you start the battle with him, he will shoot an acid-like substance at you, but you can easily knock it back at him with a strike from your sword. We’ll have to knock out those wings on him, so when he shoots his acid blobs, strike it with the left-to-right direction of your sword to strike the blob in the direction of the wing on your right; to strike the wing on your left, swing your sword from right-to-left when striking the acid blob.

When you manage to get its wings off, the second phase of this battle will begin, in which Bilocyte will shoot acid blobs at you while moving its head around frequently. He will move his head in three directions – the right, the left, and the center. When he launches acid blobs at you, you will have to strike the blobs in the direction of where his head is sitting at that point in time. If Bilocyte happens to be in the center, just deliver an uppercut attack to launch the blob forward. When you hit its eye with the blob, you will get an opening chance to run up and strike its eye as many times as you can before he  rears back and starts attacking again. Keep doing this until you defeat Bilocyte.

Boss: The Imprisoned Round 3

Fought In: Sealed Grounds

Attacks:

  • Foot Stomp – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Tail – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.

Weak Spots:

  • Sword
  • Groosenator

Much like the previous battles, the first phase of the battle is going to spent striking the Imprisoned’s toes and shooting the Imprisoned with Bombs from the Grooseanator to keep it back. When you manage to knock the Imprisoned over and strike the seal three times, the Imprisoned will actually grow wings and start to fly. When Groose has the Grooseanator ready again, quickly use it to shoot a Bomb at the Imprisoned and send him  to the ground again. Head over while he’s on the ground and strike the seal on its head three more times.

When the next phase of this battle begins, Groose will tell you that he’s run out of Bombs to fire, so you will have to quickly use the air geysers to head back up to where Groose. Groose will then suggest to catapult YOU to the Imprisoned, so jump into the catapult and shoot yourself towards the Imprisoned’s head. When you land on it, strike the seal three more times, and then deliver a Skyward Strike with directional strikes displayed on-screen to seal away the Imprisoned again.

Boss: Demon Lord Ghirahim Final Round

Fought In: Sealed Grounds

Attacks:

  • Projectiles – Does half a heart of damage on Link.
  • Kick – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Fire – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Sword Stab – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Sword Swing – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.
  • Sword Slice – Does 1 Heart of damage on Link.

In the first phase of this battle with Ghirahim, he will fight with his hands and feet,  and your goal is to strike him off the platform to the platforms below. Ghirahim will mostly block your attacks when you start, but each attack will still send him back a little bit, so just keep striking at him until you knock him off the edge of the first platform and down to the second. When you’ve landed on the second platform, Ghirahim will still be on his back, so deliver a fatal blow to inflict some real damage.

Once you’ve inflicted some attacks on him, Ghirahim will summon special spells to his  hands in the form of purple rays of light. Slashing him still works, but you have to make sure you use the right sword attacks so you don’t hit the purple rays in his hands. Keep slashing away at him until you’ve knocked him down another platform and delivered another fatal blow. Keep repeating this process until the two of you are on the ground.

Once you’re on the ground, Ghirahim will equip his sword and he will block all the attacks  you throw at him with it. We won’t be able to directly attack him in this phase of the battle, however if you keep yourself a fair distance away from him, he will start launching red beams at you, which you can easily strike back with your sword if you strike it in the same direction that the beam is positioned in. Much like previous games, strike the beams back at him whenever he returns them until he misses and the beam hits him. Once you’ve managed to hit him with his own beam, quickly run over and strike him with sword jabs to the chest. Keep repeating this process until the next phase starts.

In the final phase of the battle, Ghirahim will equip an even bigger sword. When you try  to strike him, he’ll block your attack, but his sword will take damage. You will have to strike his sword in an aggressive manner to keep him from jumping back and using his magic to restore it. Eventually, if you can deliver successful attacks onto his sword without him restoring it, the sword will break and you will have an opening to strike Ghirahim several times before he restores his sword. Repeat this process a few more times and Ghirahim will soon be defeated.

Boss: Demon King Demise

In the first phase of the battle against Demise, it is absolutely crucial that you stay  close to him. If you distance yourself too far from him, he will charge at you with a powerful sword attack that can do quite a bit of damage if you’re hit. Deliver as many sword slashes as you can – they will be blocked, but if you can strike him where he’s not blocking, you will eventually manage to land a hit on him.

When Demise starts to prepare an attack, jump back as quickly as you can so that you don’t get it. An easy way to fight him at this point is to run up to him, strike him with a sword slash from right to left, and then follow that attack up with a sword slash from left to right. As long as you keep switching your attacks like this, you will eventually hit him. Once you’ve hit him, jump back quickly to avoid his attack. Keep doing this until the next phase of the battle begins.

In the second phase, the weather in this area will begin to change, with rain, thunder,  and lightning. Raise your sword to charge a Skyward Strike. Try to avoid his attack as he will probably attack the moment you’ve charged the Skyward Strike.

Demise will start to charge up his own Skyward Strikes during this phase of the battle.  If you strike each other with Skyward Strikes, they will cancel and there will be no damage taken by either of you. When you have hit him with the Skyward Strike, quickly run over and deliver some rapid attacks to Demise. You will have the chance to deliver a fatal blow to him, but don’t do it – it will just fail.

Just like before, stay as close to Demise as possible. When he gets up from the ground,  be aware that he will usually perform a dash attack after getting back to his feet. Keep charging the Master Sword with Skyward Strikes and striking Demise, following it up with more sword attacks. When Demise falls to the ground again, you can perform a  fatal blow if you’re quick, although you’ll probably have to do the cycle a third time. The third time will be much easier to do a fatal blow, so do it the moment he falls to the ground a third time to defeat Demise.
