8. Temple of the Ocean King IV

by on March 14, 2021

Zauz’s Island

Upon leaving the Ghost Ship you will need to make your way to Zauz’s Island. This island does not appear on your map until you are close enough to it. In the Northwest Sea sail to the far northern part of the map, just west of Bannan Island.

Enter the house and speak with Zauz. After your conversation take note of the picture hanging at the back of the room. You will need to use this symbol later on.

From here head back to Linebeck’s ship and set sail for Mercay Island, where you will once again enter the Temple of the Ocean King.

Temple of the Ocean King IV

Enter the temple and proceed to the 1st Floor. Many of the floors are identical to your previous visits.

1st Floor

Make your way straight ahead and down the stairs to floor B1.

Basement 1

Upon entering the floor you will notice a new enemy, Swift Phantoms. These are very similar to normal Phantoms, bet these can run faster and pick up dropped items. So be careful!

Continue to the northeast corner of the room and blow up the blocks on your left. Step on the floor switch, run over and grab the small key, and then head for the door at the northeast corner of the floor. This will bring you down to floor B2.

Basement 2

Like previous visits, you will need to slash the two switches nearby to cause a small key to appear. Run south of the floor entrance where you will find a cracked wall. Blow it up with a bomb to access a shortcut to the small key. Step on the switch and use your Boomerang to snatch up the key. From here head to the locked door to floor B3.

If the Swift Phantom sees the key before you, it will pick it up. If this happens just wait until it passes you and strike its back with an arrow or your sword. You will stun it, causing the key to be dropped. Pick up the key and head for the locked door.

Basement 3

You will once again need to obtain all three Force Gems, placing them in their proper stop in the large safe zone on this floor. The first Force Gem is located in a treasure chest in the northwest corner of the floor. The second is found in a treasure chest in the southeast corner of the floor. The third is found in a treasure chest in the southwest corner of the floor, hidden behind a locked door.

You will need to obtain the small key from the Phantom to access the third Force Gem. You can do this by either catching the Phantom in the trap door or by stunning it in the back. Grab the small key, obtain the final Force Gem, and head down to floor B4.

Basement 4

After entering the floor walk to the northeast corner and shoot the eye switch with an arrow. This will cause the wind blowing in the room to shut off.

Like the last visit, blow up the cracked wall on the west side of the room to hit a crystal switch. The switch will cause the spikes to be lowered where you can obtain a small key. Use the small key and head down to floor B5.

Basement 5

Walk west and enter the large room located to the north. Defeat all the enemies in both rooms (Fire Bubbles and Moldorms). After the two rooms hit the crystal switch located at the northeast corner of the floor, and then head down the stairs to floor B6.

Basement 6

Run straight to the large red door located at the southern part of the floor. As Zauz suggested, you will want to draw the Triforce symbol you saw before. Draw the symbol in one stroke and the door will open up.

Enter the room to reach the midway point of the temple. A yellow warp portal will appear, allowing you to exit the temple and return to this floor at any time.

Tap the Door of Courage to proceed to floor B7.

Basement 7 (Visit 1)

Make your way onto the moving platform that leads you to the west. You should face west when switching onto the second platform to block the arrows shooting from the wall. Grab some extra time by standing on the safe zone after riding the third platform to the north. Use your Boomerang to break the yellow pot to your east.

From here head west onto a strange looking floor. Walk slowly to the safe zone heading westward. If you walk too fast it will alert the nearby Phantom. Continue south and make your way down the stairs to floor B8.

Basement 8 (Visit 1)

Enter the room and keep your eyes on your map. You will see a Phantom cross over a gap to the east side of the floor. This is the location of a hidden pathway. Trace this pathway on your map, and head in that direction, following the Phantom to the other side of the floor.

Walk up the nearby stairs back to floor B7.

Basement 7 (Visit 2)

Once the normal Phantom is facing northward and the Swift Phantom is walking northward walk west and follow behind the Swift Phantom until you reach the northeast part of this room. You will see a red pot nearby. Toss this red pot to the south, closer to the normal Phantom in the southeast part of the room. Use this new safe spot to hit the crystal switch located next to the Phantom with your Boomerang.

After hitting the switch a small area of flames will extinguish for a moment. Make your way to the northwest portion of this room to get onto a moving platform before the flames reappear.

Ride this platform to the north. Once you reach the end walk west to open a treasure chest containing a Round Crystal.

With the crystal run to the east and wait next to the platform with the crystal switch until the Swift Phantom is walking past you heading north. At this point, you need to run back to the staircase that leads to floor B8. The floor will not alert the Phantoms when holding the crystal.

Basement 8 (Visit 2)

Now that you are back on this floor you need to make your way to the west side of the floor. Wait until any Phantoms are heading away from you, and cross back over the hidden pathway from before. You will want to carefully make your way to the safe zone located near the center of the floor.

Once you make it to this safe zone place the Round Crystal in its pedestal to cause nearby spikes to lower. Head north past the lowered spikes and step on the floor switch. This will cause a wind geyser to appear (you will use this later). Continue north and head down the stairs to floor B9.

Basement 9 (Visit 1)

Open the treasure chest located to your east to obtain a Triangle Crystal. Take this crystal back up to floor B8.

Basement 8 (Visit 3)

Carrying the Triangle Crystal you want to make your way to the eastern side of the floor. That means you need to walk over the hidden pathway again.

Avoiding any Phantoms, continue to the eastern side of the floor, and make your way to the northeast corner. Be careful, the safe zone located on the eastern side of this room is fake.

Once at the safe zone at the northeast corner of the floor, you will want to drop the crystal here. Grab the red pot located just below this safe zone and run west with it. Break it just in front of the cracked block. Stand here and wait for the Phantom to walk away. You can now bomb this block, clearing the pedestal for the Triangle Crystal.

Walk back to the northeast safe zone where you left the Triangle Crystal and then return it to its pedestal to the west. After placing the crystal some nearby spikes will lower.

Optional Treasure Chest

After placing the Triangle Crystal onto its pedestal a treasure chest will appear. If you wait until the nearby Phantom is gone, head directly above where the treasure chest is located and walk south. You will walk over a hidden pathway and obtain another Courage Gem!

Pass by the lowered spikes and hit the crystal switch, causing a door to open and revealing stairs down to floor B9. Take the Triangle Crystal off its pedestal and bring it with you down the stairs you just discovered.

Basement 9 (Visit 2)

Upon entering this floor you will want to leave the crystal switch at this safe zone. You will retrieve it later. A new enemy has also appeared on this floor, Wizzrobes. There are four Wizzrobes on this floor. Let them sneak up behind you and when they are close enough turn around and strike them with your sword. If you are too slow they not only will hurt you, but also take 15 seconds of sand from your hourglass.

Optional Treasure Chest

If you defeat all 4 Wizzrobes on this floor a treasure chest will appear. Open it to obtain a Wisdom Gem!

After defeating the necessary Wizzrobes head to the southern part of the room and locate the arrow aimer. Use your Boomerang to make the arrow aimer face northward towards the eye switch. Use your Bow to hit the arrow aimer which will then hit the eye switch. Spikes will then lower near the safe zone in the southeast portion of the floor.

Make your way to this newly unlocked safe zone. Here you will notice a floor switch. Use this switch to open a trap door, trapping the Phantom as it walks by, allowing you to obtain the Square Crystal it was holding.

Carry this crystal to the northwest corner of the floor and place it in its Pedestal. This will cause the flames to your right to extinguish. Use the staircase here to return to floor B8 one last time.

Basement 8 (Visit 4)

Walk southward and make sure you pressed the floor switch located just to your south. This was the switch that caused a wind geyser to appear. Walk to the Round Crystal and take it from its pedestal.

You will now need to walk to the wind geysery (on the other side of this wall) to get up on top of the ledge. Walk northward along the ledge until you reach the stairs back to floor B9. Jump down and head down the stairs.

Basement 9 (Visit 3)

You should now have all three crystals (Round, Triangle, Square) on this floor. Bring all three crystals to the northern portion of the floor and place them on their proper pedestal.

Proceed into the new room and obtain the Southeastern Sea Chart! Step into the blue portal and you will be transported to the entrance of the temple.
