Mercay Island
Upon leaving the Temple of Fire visit Astrid the fortune-teller at her house. She will give you a Power Gem. While you can’t use it right now, it will come in handle later.
Exit the house and return to Linebeck who is waiting at the boat. You will want to set sail and head back to Mercay Island. Once you have docked, head to the northwest corner of the island and enter the Temple of the Ocean King.
Temple of the Ocean King – Part II
Enter the temple and speak with Linebeck and Oshus. You will be instructed to walk up to the altar and obtain the Phantom Hourglass. After doing so you may now enter the temple itself.
1st Floor
While on the first floor you will notice that time will count down when you are not on the purple safe zones. Quickly run north and tap on the door blocking your way. Leaf will open it using its powers, and you may now enter floor B1.
Basement 1
You will immediately be introduced to Phantoms. Avoid these enemies and head to the northeast part of the floor. You will notice a switch that you will need to hit. Upon hitting the switch run south towards the torch that was lit. Use your boomerang on the lit torch to lite the second torch. This will cause the nearby fire to go out.
You will now want to quickly run to the safe zone located at the southwest corner of the floor. Wait until the Phantom is heading north and run to the safe zone located just above the safe zone you are coming from. Again, wait until the Phantom is heading south and make your way north and around the corner where you will need to step on a switch.
After you’ve stepped on the switch head to the northwest corner of the floor to obtain a small key. Carefully make your way from safe zone to safe zone until you reach the locked door at the northeast corner of the floor. Open it and head down to floor B2.
Basement 2
Once you have entered the floor wait until the stationary Phantom is facing west. Run south and hit the crystal switch hiding on the right column. After hitting it the Phantom will begin moving in that direction. Run back from where you came, but then turn left and pull the switch the Phantom was standing in front of. If you have time continue running left and slash the second crystal switch.
If you were quick enough a small key should drop from the ceiling. If not, hit the first crystal switch again along with the second.
Run to the western part of the floor past the locked door and break the red pot. This will create a mini safe zone for you to rest. While on this mini safe zone use your boomerang and hit the switch to your south, just past the flames. The flames will extinguish and you now need to make your way to a safe zone at the southwest portion of the floor.
Wait until the Phantom is heading away from you and carefully make your way to the southeast corner of the floor. There is a red pot here for you to break and create a safe zone. Once the Phantom has left your area continue north to find another safe zone and floor switch.
Stand on the floor switch and use your boomerang to grab the small key on the other side of the spikes. Once you have obtained the small key you will want to make your way back around and to the locked door located near the northwest part of the floor. You can also use a switch located beyond the blue blocks to access the locked door faster.
Basement 3
Your goal on this floor is to carry all 3 Force Gem‘s to the large safe zone in the northeast part of this floor. From the entrance head to the northwest part of the floor where you will find a chest. This is the first of the 3 Force Gems.
With this first Force Gem, you will want to make your way to the northeast corner of the floor. Avoid any Phantoms in your path. Once you have delivered the first Force Gem follow the path to the right and stop right before the dropdown. From here use your boomerang to strike the crystal switch on the right.
Once you’ve hit the switch make your way to the safe zone at the southeast part of the floor. Here you will find the second Force Gem. Like before, carefully carry the Force Gem to the northeast part of the floor.
Now you will need to walk to the southwest corner of the floor. Here you will need to pull a red lever which will extinguish some nearby flames. Head to the east and up the stairs that were once blocked by the flames.
At the top of the stairs you will find 2 floor switches. Use one of the switches to open up a trap door, causing the Phantom circling your platform to fall. Grab the small key the Phantom dropped and use it to open the locked door located at the southwest corner of the floor.
Unlock the door and open the treasure chest to obtain the third and final Force Gem. Carry this Force Gem to the safe zone at the northeast part of the floor. You may now proceed into the next room.
In this final room heat to the northwest corner and obtain the Northwestern Sea Chart. Then make your way out by using the blue portal to your east.
Once you’ve warped to the entrance of the temple make your way back to Linebeck’s ship. Linebeck will need you to clean the map before reading it. Just blow into your microphone and you can now make your way to your next destination!
Cannon Island
If you headed to the north on Linebeck’s ship you will be stopped by a whirlwind blocking your path. Instead, you will want to head to Cannon Island (located slightly southwest of Mercay Island).
Upon reaching Cannon Island head up the stairs and talk to the Postman. After the short chat head into the building just past the mailbox where you will meet Fuzo, Eddo‘s apprentice. Follow Fuzo outside where he will lead you to a new part of the island.
Treasure Map
Follow the path until you reach a fork in the road. Head to the east at the fork and open the treasure chest to obtain a Treasure Map!
Continue down the path to the south where you will find the entrance to a cave. Enter the cave and defeat the Rats as they are more or less an annoyance. With the Rats gone you can now use the Bomb Flowers to break the rocks on the eastern side of the room.
Continue east into the next room. Here you will need to grab another Bomb Flower and throw it over the fence and next to the rock blocking your way. You can now push the block to move forward.
Ahead are a few more blocks you will need to move. The block just above the Bomb Flower you will need to pull south and then east. Positioning it just above the Bomb Flower. From here walk further where you will find another block. Push this block to the east and then north. If done properly you should now have a clear path all the way through.
Head back to the nearest Bomb Flower and carry one to the end of the mini-maze to blow up the rocks blocking your way. Continue forward and up the stairs.
Back outside you will find a field of Bomb Flowers. Grab a bomb and blow up the rocks blocking your path to the east.
Optional Treasure Chest
After blowing up the rocks, walk to the southwestern part of the island to find a treasure chest just before a ledge. Open it to receive 20 rupees!
Continue down the path and blow up another set of rocks blocking your way. Walk north and you will notice some Bomb Flowers on a ledge just before a dropdown. Quickly grab one of the bomb flowers, jump off the ledge, and run east. You will want to quickly throw the Bomb Flower at the blocks just beyond the fence.
After you’ve blown up the rocks head back from where you came, taking the path heading north. This will lead you to Eddo’s Garage where you will receive a Cannon for your ship (after forking up 50 rupees that is).
Finish up talking with the Postman and head back to Linebeck to set sail. You want to head to the western part of the quadrant, through the opening in the rocks.
As you approach the wall tap the boulders to blow them up, opening the path to the western side. You will now be face to face with the Ghost Ship. Follow it closely as it sails to the north. As you enter the northwest quadrant continues to follow the ship.
Soon enough the fog will take over and you will find yourself at the entrance to the northwest quadrant. Head back to the southwest quadrant and towards the large island to the west, Molida Island.
Molida Island
Upon landing on Molida Island, you will want to head to the eastern side of the island and enter the house located near a cave. Enter the house and talk with Romanos. As you go to leave he will stop you. Go and talk to him again where he will instruct you to enter the cave located just behind his house.
Enter the cave and head to the west. You will need to climb the set of stairs and jump over the platforms heading east. Once you’ve done so head north and encounter a new enemy, a Geozard. Use your boomerang to hit the enemy from behind, then strike it with your sword.
After defeating the Geozard walk north over the bridge, and through the door. Follow the pathway and walk through the door on the other side. In this new room, you will notice a large crack on the wall. Blow it up with a nearby Bomb Flower and enter.
Open the treasure chest to receive the Shovel! You may also read the journal on the table which gives more details on another secret location. Leave the room and walk to the west where you will see stairs. Before taking the stairs up, blow up the blocks blocking your path just to the south. Then walk up the stairs to head back outside.
Outside you will notice two more stone tablets. One right as you exited the cave, and the other to the east. Mark their locations on your map.
Jump back down and locate the other two tablets around town. Mark them on your map and connect the opposite pairs to create two intersecting lines. Where the lines meet will be the location of the next secret spot.
The intersection of the two lines should be located just below a palm tree. Dig here and enter the hole you created. You will once again notice a treasure chest, a journal, and now a painting on the back wall. Read the painting at the back of the room to learn the path through the fog in the northwest quadrant. Copy it onto your sea chart and exit the room by heading west.
Treasure Map
The treasure chest located in this room contains a Treasure Map! Obtain it to find some nice treasure later on.
Make note of the locked door with the sun icon as you will need to return here later. Then walk back to Linebeck’s ship to set sail towards the northwest quadrant!
