There are three upgradeable things within Oracle of Seasons: your Ring Box, your cache of Bombs, and your capacity to carry the various types of Seeds you’ll find within the world. Each of these can be upgraded twice; however, one of those upgrades for each item is done via the password system in a Linked game whereas the second can be found within the world itself. This page will tell you where to find both upgrades of each.

1 Ring Box upgrade

Blast open this cave to start your trek up Mt. Cucco.

Requirements: Zora’s Flippers, Bomb

One screen to the east of the entrance to Goron Village high within Goron Mountain is a bombable wall. Set a bomb in front of the wall, and then enter the cavern. You’ll have to deal with some Zols inside, but they’re nothing to be concerned about. Follow the pathway up and around the lava lake as you head for the stairs leading upward.

This staircase will actually lead you back to the overworld, and suddenly you’ll have two choices of staircases to follow — one to the west and one to the east. Take the eastern staircase just one screen over, which will inevitably lead you to the rightmost cave above. Back inside, you’ll encounter a Spiny Beetle hiding under a bush right before the staircase going up.

Once you leave the cave, you will face your toughest match yet: two blue Lynels. Lynels are extremely hardy creatures, and they will deal a lot of damage with the fireballs they shoot. Be extremely cautious of them and prepare yourself to either fight or flee from these creatures. Follow the pathway around, and you’ll eventually have to jump off of a gap in the cliff. This will put you right in front of a cavern entrance.

Inside, a red-colored Goron will offer to upgrade your Ring Box. If this is your first upgrade, your Ring Box will become the L-2 Ring Box, and it will allow you to hold three separate rings instead of the standard one that the L-1 Ring Box allows. If it’s your second upgrade, you’ll get the L-3 Ring Box, and it’ll allow you to hold five rings. Unfortunately, you can still only equip one at a time.

2 Ring Box secret

Requirements: Playing a Linked Game, Snake’s Remains completed

Once you’ve completed the second dungeon, you’ll want to revisit an old “friend.” From the mouth of the second dungeon, pick up the rock, head west and then north. Stand on the tree stump and use the Rod of Seasons to change the season to winter. Then bypass the tree and head eastward.

The season will change automatically. Continue east one more screen, and then hop back onto the tree stump and force the season to be winter again. Then climb the steps to the ledge and continue east. Cross the snowbank, and then leap into the chimney of the house where you originally got the Shovel. This time, you’ll find two women inside. Talk to the one closest to the door, and she’ll request that you give a secret missive to her favorite authors. How she thinks you’ll do so is beyond me since they used to live 400 years ago in Symmetry Village. Nevertheless, accept her request to get a five-character password.

Return to Labrynna in Oracle of Ages. Head to the past, and then use a Gale Seed to head up to Symmetry Village in the northwest of the map. The building to enter is the main temple in the south-central part of town. Talk to the girl on the left of the Tuni Nut, and recite her the secret you received. In doing so, she will upgrade your Ring Box to the next level. She’ll then also give you a password to return to Holodrum with.

All of the passwords back in Holodrum go to the Oracle of Secrets found in the Maku Tree in Horon Village. Talk to the green-haired girl there, and give her your secret. She will upgrade your Ring Box. If this is your first upgrade, you’ll get the L-2 Ring Box, which will allow you to carry three rings. If it’s your second upgrade, you’ll get the L-3 Ring Box, allowing you to carry five. Regardless of your Ring Box, you’ll still only be able to equip one ring at a time.

3 Bomb Bag upgrade

Requirements: Power Bracelet, 10 Bombs, 50 Ore Chunks

After you purchase the Ribbon from the Subrosian Shop in order to get Rosa to go on a date with you, you should make your way back to the Subrosian Shop in order to check out their new, updated wares. You’ll find a red-colored Bomb for sale. This might strike you as a very odd way to depict a Bomb Bag upgrade, but that’s exactly what it is. In order to upgrade your Bomb Bag, you’ll need to purchase it.

Hearing the cost at first blush might make you choke slightly — the 50 Ore Chunks isn’t all that hateful, but sacrificing 10 Bombs might sound a bit much, especially when that means you’ll have to come in with a full Bomb Bag if this is your first upgrade! However, if you have 10 Bombs, easily take the shopkeeper up on his offer. He’ll gladly fill up your entire Bomb Bag if you purchase it, meaning you’ll get 30 Bombs in return for purchasing it (provided it’s your first upgrade).

4 Bomb Bag secret

Requirements: Zora’s Flippers, Great Moblin defeated

After you get the Zora’s Flippers, you can go after the optional boss Great Moblin. Once you defeat him, however, he’ll secretly move into the house in the lower-right corner of Sunken City. In order to get this secret, you literally need to go visit him in Sunken City after his defeat and talk to him once.

Now you’ll need to return to the Great Moblin’s destroyed fort. Where you found the Piece of Heart under the rubble will now also be a friendly Moblin. This Moblin won’t want to attack but instead will give you a secret to tell to a Tokay friend back in Labrynna.

Insert Oracle of Ages and warp to the present-day Crescent Island. Hop off the ledge, go south one screen, and then enter the cave you find there. You’ll be inside the Tokay Museum. Give the secret to the Tokay there, and apparently it will remind him of the Tokay feeding mini-game that used to be played on Crescent Island 400 years ago. And guess what? You get to play it again! Joy!

If you manage to feed every Tokay that passes by, you’ll get a Bomb Bag upgrade. If this is your first Bomb Bag upgrade, you’ll increase from 10 to 30 Bombs. If this is your second upgrade, you’ll upgrade from 30 to 50 Bombs in your inventory.

Naturally to get this upgrade back to Holodrum, you’ll need to visit Farore in the Maku Tree.

5 Seed Satchel upgrade

The Subrosian Shop doesn’t sell the Seed Satchel upgrade, but it does sell the Member’s Card.

Requirements: Roc’s Feather, 5 Ore Chunks, 300 Rupees

The starting point for this upgrade is the same place that you get the physical upgrade for the Bomb Bag, but it unfortunately requires a few more steps. You also can’t get it as early as the Bomb Bag upgrade as the Subrosian shopkeeper won’t offer what you need to buy until at least after you complete the third dungeon.

Head to the Subrosian shopkeeper near the Subrosian beach where you began your date with Rosa around your third foray into Subrosia. You’ll find that he’s stocked some new items, namely a blue card in the bottom slot. It says “Member’s Card,” and it’ll be your ticket to getting the upgrade. The price is dirt cheap too: a mere five Ore Chunks. Buy it, leave Subrosia, and return to Horon Village.

Within Horon Village, head towards the southwest where you’ll find the Horon Village shop. The shopkeeper sells rather boring items generally, but if you try to walk behind the counter, he’ll notice that you’ll flash him your new, fancy Member’s Card. This will allow you access to his special members-only shop downstairs. Follow the shopkeeper down, and you’ll find some glorious items on display. Namely, you’ll find that you can purchase the Seed Satchel upgrade for 300 Rupees.

If this is your first upgrade of the Seed Satchel, it’ll balloon your Seed-carrying capabilities from 20 of each seed to 50. If it’s your second upgrade, you’ll go up to 99.

6 Seed Satchel secret

Requirements: Playing a Linked Game, Rod of Seasons with the power of winter, Snake’s Remains completed

As you work your way through the Woods of Winter in Holodrum, you will come across a teleportation tree that sprouts Mystery Seeds. Head north, and you will find a tree stump where you can use the Rod of Seasons. Climb the vines here, and change the season to winter. Once you’ve done so, you can hop off the ledge and enter a now-accessible cave thanks to the water residing in front of it being frozen over. Inside, you will find a golden fairy. She will ask you to give a secret to Tingle, who resides all the way over in Labrynna. Agree to do so, and she will give you a five-character password.

Boot up your completed save file in Oracle of Ages, and then find Tingle. He lives one screen east and one screen south of the shop in the southeast corner of Lynna City in the present; however, you can’t get there directly but will have to go around some natural barriers to reach him. Once you spot him on the screen, head one screen south and enter the cave there. You should have already activated the Crystal Switch there and extended the bridge. Cross the bridge and climb the steps. Use Roc’s Feather and your sword to pop Tingle’s balloon so he’ll fall down to earth. Give him the password you got in Holodrum, and he will expand your Seed Satchel. He’ll then give you a password to return to Holodrum with.

Back in Holodrum, once you’ve beaten the second dungeon, return to the Maku Tree. Inside the tree, give the five-character password to Farore. She will upgrade your Seed Satchel. If this is your first upgrade of the Seed Satchel, you’ll suddenly be able to carry 50 seeds of every type; otherwise, if it’s your second, you’ll be able to carry 99.
