Maag Halan Shrine – The Test of Wood

by on March 29, 2018

The Daag Chokah Shrine is located at the end of the trial. Speak to Chio to activate the trials quest, who is located in the Korok Forest. Head east from the Great Deku Tree and follow the path to Damia. This will initiate the trial and he will supply you with a wooden set of weapons. If you have a stronger Korok weapon like a bow that shoots three arrows, you can equip this weapon instead. Do not equip a metal weapon as this will end the trial and you will need to start again.

The first section contains a few Keese and ChuChu’s, which you can take out with the bomb room, which will preserve your Korok weapons.  You will reach a stack of wooden crates, which you can either shoot a bomb arrow at or use your bomb rune. When you get close a large ChuChu will appear.

The next pathway will have two Stalkoblin’s shooting ice arrows, defeat them first and keep moving forward. When you reach the bog, you will need to take out the Octorock’s as quickly as possible so you can use your Chryonis rune to make your way over the bog. Towards the end of the bog, there will be another Octorock so be ready to shoot him with your bow and arrow.

You will next reach another bog where you will have more Stalkoblin’s shooting fire arrows. Once you have cleared the enemies here, you can either use your Chryonis rune to make your way across or use the updrafts to paraglide over the bog.

When you do this trial for the second time, if you have Revali’s Gale, you can paraglide over most of this trial and use fire arrows to get further updrafts to clear the whole course. This would give you a faster time than taking on all the enemies.

Once you have completed the trial you can enter the Maag Halan shrine. Head to the treasure chest to receive the Giant Ancient Core. Go to the altar and receive the spirit orb.
