A Link to the Past

Optional Item: Bug-catching Net

Once you arrive in Kakariko Village for the first time, head to the south end of Kakariko Village. Just north of the Kakariko inn is a small ordinary house, but this house contains a rather sad story. Inside this house is a bedridden young boy who barely has the energy to get out of bed.

Head on in, and the boy will wake up momentarily to tell you his tale. The bad air off of Death Mountain seems to be making him perpetually ill. But he’s got something that will help you on your journey. It’s not a weapon in the truest sense, but it might help gain the support of a few fairies along the way.

The Bug-catching Net is primarily used for the catching of helpful Fairies and Bees to aid your quest. Fairies, when placed into a Bottle, will restore seven hearts, even when you runs out of hearts, preventing a game over. Bees, on the other hand, can be used to kill and do damage to enemies when released.

However, a lesser known useĀ of the Bug-catching Net is that it can reflect Agahnim’s arcaneĀ blasts back at him.
