Requirements: Zora’s Flippers
Instructions: There is a small waterfall northeast of the witch’s hut that conceals a cave. Jump in to the river and swim to the cave to find a Piece of Heart.
Into the Well
Requirements: Power Glove
Instructions: There is a well in the northwest corner of Kakariko Village. Use the power glove to lift the rocks on the cliff above the well, and then jump into the well to find a Piece of Heart.
Instructions: Merge into the western wall of the Blacksmith’s house, and then walk around the building to the back (northern) wall. Exit the wall and walk north to find a Piece of Heart.
Hyrule Castle Secret
Requirements: Power Glove
Instructions: There is a Piece of Heart surrounded by small stones outside the eastern wall of Hyrule Castle. You can reach the Piece of Heart by following the road the leads east of the main castle gate. The path turns north and dead ends at the Piece of Heart.
Rosso’s Ore Mine
Requirements: Power Glove, Hookshot, and Magic Hammer
Instructions: East of the Tower of Hera, Rosso has an ore mine. There are wooden signs pointing towards the mine. The signs lead into a lava-filled cave that you must navigate by falling on to moving platforms. Halfway through the cave, you will reach a large platform with a wooden sign instructing you to travel east to reach the ore mine.
Instead, travel west. Merge on to the wall and walk around the wall to reach another moving platform. Then, follow the path of moving platforms to reach a Piece of Heart.
Instructions: Play the Cucco Rush mini game in southern Kakariko Village. There are three difficulty levels; when you complete the “Rooster” difficulty level, you will be awarded with a Piece of Heart.
Instructions: Play the Rupee Rush mini game in southern Kakariko Village. Beat the high score, and your reward will be a Piece of Heart.
Requirements: Bombs, Merge
Instructions: There is a cracked wall directly south of the Eastern Palace. Use a bomb to destroy the cracked wall and reveal a cave entrance. Inside the cave, use Merge to reach the Piece of Heart.
Requirements: Magic Hammer
Instructions: There is a secluded grassy area south of the Eastern Palace. In the southeast corner of the area, there is a Piece of Heart surrounded by wooden stakes. Use the Magic Hammer to smash the stakes; then, collect the Piece of Heart.
Death Mountain Connection
Requirements: Merge, Tornado Wand
Instructions: There is a Piece of Heart on the lonely “island” east of the Tower of Hera. To reach this Piece of Heart, you must begin in Lorule. Access Lorule from the portal near Rosso’s ore mine, then enter the cave that leads towards the Ice Ruins (wooden signs will guide you). Ride the moving platforms until you reach a large platform with a sign instructing you to travel north to reach the Ice Ruins.
Do not travel north; instead, travel west. When the path splits again, travel north. Use the Tornado Wand with proper timing to travel between the last few moving platforms and reach the exit.
You will emerge on the small “island” in Lorule. The “island” contains nothing except a stone pillar. Merge into the pillar and enter the portal to Hyrule on the pillar to return to Hyrule. There, you will find a Piece of Heart.
Requirements: Titan’s Mitt
Instructions: Lift the large stone in front of the cave outside the blacksmith’s house in Kakariko Village. Enter the cave to find a Piece of Heart.
Instructions: There is a locked house in western Kakariko Village. To enter the house, first travel to Lorule and find the same house. The house is in ruins and located directly east of the mask cult. The north wall of the house contains a portal to Hyrule. Enter the portal to emerge inside the locked house in Kakariko Village.
Inside, a stylish woman will blow you a kiss, rewarding you with a Piece of Heart.
Requirements: Merge, Bombs
Instructions: Travel to the graveyard in Lorule; the portal to Lorule providing access to the graveyard is inside the Sanctuary in Hyrule. There is a cliff on the northern edge of the graveyard that contains a cracked wall. Use a bomb to destroy the wall and reveal a portal to Hyrule. Enter the portal to return to Hyrule; then, enter the nearby cave to find a Piece of Heart.
Merging in the Woods
Instructions: Enter the Lost Woods from the east (near Rosso, the miner’s, house). Travel southwest to reach a large broken log. Inside the log, merge into the southern wall and enter the small crack to reach an enclosed area containing a Piece of Heart.
Instructions: South of Link’s house, there is a Piece of Heart surrounded by large stone pillars. To reach the Piece of Heart, travel further south and east to reach the edges of the swamp. There, you will find two more large stone pillars near a cliff wall. Place a bomb between the two stone pillars to reveal a hidden cave entrance.
Enter the cave; when the path forks, turn west and exit the cave to reach the Piece of Heart.
Instructions: Return to the secret passage that connects the Graveyard and Sanctuary. When you reach the large dark room filled with rats, merge in to the north wall on the second floor of the room. While merged, walk to the northeast corner of the room to reach a Piece of Heart.
Race for the Heart
Requirements: Pegasus Boots
Instructions: Travel to the southeast corner of Hyrule; the eastern edge of Lake Hylia. There, you will find a man who will challenge you to a racing mini game. The race challenges you to run from the starting point near Lake Hylia to the finish line north of Rosso’s house near Death Mountain.
The first time you race, you must complete the track in less than 75 seconds. The first race can be completed without the Pegasus Boots and you are rewarded 100 rupees.
The second time you race, the time limit is reduced to 65 seconds. The second race requires that you have the Pegasus Boots, and the reward is a Piece of Heart.
Death Mountain Merging
Requirements: Merge, Power Glove
Instructions: Begin at the Tower of Hera on top of Death Mountain and travel west until the cliff ends. Merge into the wall (there are two hearts in the wall at the correct point) and walk west a few steps until you are directly above a cave entrance below. Exit the wall to fall down to the cave.
The cave entrance leads under the mountain (you do not enter a real cave) to a secluded area that contains a Piece of Heart.
Instructions: Each time you play the Fortune’s Choice mini game in Thieves’ Town, there is a chance one of the three chests you open will contain a Piece of Heart. You can only collect one Piece of Heart in this way.
Requirements: Ice Rod
Instructions: This Piece of Heart can be seen outside before entering the dungeon, but cannot be accessed without entering the dungeon. On the first floor, enter the room in the southwest corner. Inside, step into the portals until you reach a lava-filled room. Then, use the Ice Rod to create a path across the lava, and exit the dungeon. When you exit, you will be on the small island containing the Piece of Heart.
Northern Thieves’ Town
Instructions: There is a Piece of Heart visible outside the northern-most building in Thieves’ Town (the northern-most building is Sahasrahla’s house in Hyrule). This building is separated from the rest of the town and must be accessed through a separate portal (the portal to Lorule on the back side of Sahasrahla’s house in Kakariko Village is the closest).
Once you reach the building, merge into the wall and walk around to the front of the building to reach the Piece of Heart.
Fly like a Cucco
Instructions: A Piece of Heart can be seen on the roof of the building between Death Mountain and Skull Woods (this building is Rosso’s house in Hyrule). To reach it, travel southeast and climb the wooden ladder. Then, travel north along the cliff and pick up the Cucco you find along the way. Carry the Cucco to the end of the cliff and jump off to float to the roof of the building.
Aim to land directly on the Piece of Heart; you cannot land on the slanted roof of the building.
Requirements: Merge, Bombs, Sand Wand
Instructions: Begin in Hyrule and travel to the northern edge of the desert. Use the Sand Wand to create a horizontal sand bridge along the northern edge of the desert. Then, use a bomb to destroy the cracked wall on the cliff wall. Destroying the wall will reveal a portal to Lorule. Enter the portal to find the Piece of Heart.
Instructions: There is a Piece of Heart near the Dark Palace in the maze patrolled by guards. You can collect the Piece of Heart before completing the Dark Palace by sneaking past the guards with Merge. However, it is easier to collect the Piece of Heart after completing the Dark Palace because the guards will no longer be patrolling the area.
The Piece of Heart is west of the Dark Palace entrance and east of the northern jail cell (you will only be sent to a jail cell if you are caught by the guards).
Instructions: Earn 100 or more rupees while playing the Octoball Derby mini game to earn a Piece of Heart. In order to earn a high score, you must repeatedly hit three pots in a row and then hit the crow that flies across the field for a 20 rupee bonus. Hitting the crabs will reset the pots on the field and make it easier to hit three in a row.
Requirements: Big Bomb Flower
Instructions: Purchase the ability to use the Big Bomb Flower south of Thieves’ Town. Then, escort the Big Bomb Flower to the southeast corner of the swamp area that contains the Swamp Palace. Place the Big Bomb Flower near the large cracked stone to destroy the stone and reveal a cave. Inside, you will find a Piece of Heart.
Instructions: The Treacherous Tower is located at the top of Death Mountain. The tower is a multi-stage mini game that tests your skill at defeating a variety of enemies. Complete the beginner difficulty level, and then complete the intermediate difficulty level to earn a Piece of Heart.
Rupee Rush Take Two
Instructions: Lorule has a more expensive and more difficult version of the Rupee Rush mini game that exists in Hyrule. Earn a new high score while playing Rupee Rush to earn a Piece of Heart.
